Sub install PROBLEM

  ?
Just installed a sub bought from a member on here but it doesnt seem to be working, ie.. not powering on. Feeling gutted atm spent 3 hours making sure all the wiring looked nice and tidy then to find it doesnt work!

Used an ampmeter to check that the sub is recieving power... and it is but its not working.

Could it be a broken sub? what should i check?

Things to check.

1) Earthing - often this is a probelm as the earting isnt very good(for amp) and sub wont run.
2)Remote cable - Is plugged into the right place on the H/U

Go and check these two as there is a good chance this will be the probelm.

Wiring was fine.

Turns out it was the fuse on the sub! One new fuse later its happily blasting away!

Cheers for the help

yes it is an active enclosure.

New problem - Just done a 3 hour journey... towards the end i noticed the sub is not always working! every 4/5 minutes it will appear to turn off randomly halfway through a track then come back after 30seconds or so. What could this be down to? I doubt there is any loose wiring

Might be the amp overheating. Make sure that there is gaps for the amp to 'breathe' in a way. For it to cool down.

try a different earth point and check the remote connection is good. might be a loose connection

Its an active sub, the amps built into the box and yes theres room for air flow.

What would you recommend as a good earthing point in / around the boot area? Cheers

Make sure you scrape the paint away to bare metal on your earthing point, and make sure it is secured VERY VERY tightly.

Yeah earthed mine under the rear seats behind the passenger seat, seams to be the best place to earth the amp, make sure the remote wire is connected properly behind the head unit aswell becuse my dodgy conection was the problem with mine.
