Subframe mounting!

The cup race cars and R19 run completely subframe mounted.
as does my mate on his valver and it seems to work very well.

picture above shows how it works, and i wanted to know if it would work on a mk2 subframe!

What do you mean by completely subframe mounted? Do you mean the engine is mounted to the subframe?

Subframe looks almost identical to a Mk2 to me..

I know Foxy has designed/made up a fifth engine mount that matches the one above..

Also, why would you want to alter it that much? For the cost/work involved, why not just spend £100 on some second hand uprated mounts that do the job fine?

i already have vibratechnic's mounts and a pollybush dogbone, but they still allow a lot of movement because the top mount is so far from the where the force is.

plus i love the look and it makes it much more easier to work on the engine. i can get the mounts for £40, and sell my mounts for around £100 so it will earn me money.

plus i think to looks so cool and much tidier!!

The mount foxy made up was also for the mk1 subframe annoyingly iirc

We made a 5th engine mount,works a treat and easy.And all the holes are already there,just have to drill the subframe.

was it much different than that of the R19 mount shown above??

of the 172 mounting system, the front mount is identical,

and im 90% certain that the dogbone will also be identical, its just the front mount im slightly worried about.

would it be strong enough to not avoid using the top mount completely??
and would you be able to make another one at a cost?? i dont have any welding/bending facilites

from that picture it looks like your mount is very similar to the R19 mount!!
implying that the set up will work!! lol
