Summer clean

Bought a clay kit a while ago and with the nice weather decided to do the whole car.

What I did:

2 washes with zip wax
dry
clay (Auto glym one)
auto glym super resin polish
Simoniz Wax
Auto glym ultra protection thing.

Anyway, I underestimated the time and it took forever.

Not great or scenic pics but shows the results.

Don't know what the marks on the bonnet are from, as there not on the car now? Really wierd.

PS, if anyone wants to just post their clean pics in here prior to tomorrows FCS that's cool with me :)

Cheers for the comments on the car. Really did take so much longer than I thought.

Looking sweet mate, your car turned out good
Do i spy a Cf Splitter ?
Did you seal/polish your wheels ?
and what did you use on the black plastics ?

Yeah, had a CF splitter when I bought it.

Don't seal or polish my wheels. Just use some wheel cleaner. In the past on my Williams wheels did use wheel wax but never noticed much improvement.

On the black plastic bits? Nothing.

Was your wheels not easier to clean with wax on them ?

A long time ago now. Tbh, I wash the car once a week so brake dust and marks always fall/fell off on all my cars. I never left it for weeks. I'd imagine it to the be the case that they will be more difficult to clean without wax but due to my circumstances never found that problem.

Ah righty

What you using at the moment for washing car and wheels ?

Nothing special. Autoglym wheel cleaner. Wash that off with the pressure washer. Then a couple of buckets of water and pressure washer it off again. Usually pretty clean by then!

Does it not dull the finish using AG Wheel Cleaner all the time ?

yeah cleaning products are abit poor. that zip wax shampoo will strip all your hard work away next time ya wash. autoglym products do take hours, zymol or dodo juice FTW.

What cleaning products should I use instead guys? which ones are poor? Also, I friggin hope Ag wheel cleaner will not dull the finish on my wheels!

I like the dodo juice shampoo, really light and won't strip ya wax and polish off if ya wash ya car every week, bilberry wheel cleaner which is strong but doesn't corrode ya alloys, rim wax if ya really wanna look after ya wheels. Dodo juice is great and cheaper than zymol, choose a 1 for red the zymol is called rouge. Get micro fibre cloths and mitt for best finish. Should get ya started. Lol

You don't have to spend mega bucks. I use Optimum Car Wash shampoo which is brilliant. I've also been trying some Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild shampoo which is really good. Obviously wash using the 2 bucket method and a quality lambswool mitt. SRP is fine for polish but it's not going to correct the paint, but that's fine if it's in good condition. Bilberry is good on the wheels and can be diluted depending on needs. As for wax, Dodo have a great selection or something like Poorboy's Natty wax for a cheaper option.

If you go on DetailingWorld there's a guy that sells samples which includes a whole bunch of Dodo stuff. Might be worth giving those a try before going ahead and buying stuff outright. I've washed the 182 twice now using half a bottle of my £3 sample of Dodo shampoo!
