Sump Gasket

Car  53 Clio's & counting
never had the sump off a 172, is it an easy job guys?

mines doesn't need doing but as im spending the day doing some bits in the workshop im thinking is it worth popping it off and cleaning it out?
 
Im pretty sure you need to drop the subframe to get it out mate. When mine was done, we lifted it out of the top with only the gearbox mount bolted up and even then it was tight!
 
ah lol, im having a metal black mate and im not with the car atm, so i cant remember if you can get it off with everything in situ?
 
na subframe can stay on, you need to lift the engine up to get it off, bit fiddly

the engine needs lifting from the top drivers side engine mount
 
hmm,think il leave it for now, il leave that for another saturday me thinks iv got enough on lol cheers chaps
 
I've done it quite a few times in the car, it's a bit awkward getting the sump past the subframe, getting height is the key. Wouldn't go to the effort just to clean it out though, unless there's a problem you know about.
