Sunflower's Choice of Products

As above.

Basically, if/when I get this Sunflower, it'll need a bit of tlc. Just basically wondering if anyone can recommend any decent polishes, waxes/sealants etc to help really bring the shine back out?!

My main concern is the seemingly faded rear bumper (unless it is the worlds worst respray job LOL). Seems to have gone a milky yellowy white colour (the front is starting to fade slightly too). So bringing back out the colour of the rear bumper is my first priority. Any polishing compounds which are good for this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to make this a minter!!

:)

No specific suggestions for polishes other than the usual Menz or 3M. Both will sort the fade as it will just be UV damage (unless, like you say, it's a poor respray).

LSP wise I would go for the Werkstat range. On reds and yellows (flat colours) it's heard to beat the carnauba. Failing that, a decent, carnauba rich wax like Glasur would be my choice.

Cheers JD (Arif can GTFO this thread). I've been meaning to get some of the Werkstat for a while now.

I think, weather dependant, ill be giving this a real going over in the middle of Feb (probably hit it on 15-16th). Time to get some products ordered ;).

Is this you asking me on a man date?
You'd be more than welcome to though!!!

I'm going to see if I can "borrow" the girlfriends garage for the 2 days, so I won't have to contend with rain.

Gtechniq C4. As long as they are properly cleaned before hand, this stuff will keep them mint for ages. (Say's its Permanent but seen its Semi-permanent else where)

s**t the bed. That's more expensive than what one thought it'd be. LOL

Lols! False economy when you apply a crap trim product every week. C4 apply then sell.

Costs £700 for 500ml of C1 yet it cost less than £10 to do my whole car with it.

Yelliw needs a wax mate. Get it properly clean. Wash-tar remover-iron remover-clay etc then...

Polish well - glaze -wax.

Werkstat jett is good for when it's colder as it's so easy to use but coming up to show season/summer you want a lovely wax. :)

Budget for the Lsp?

Nice one. Cheers Gally (was hoping for a response from you ).

Ill get the Gtechniq C4 then (was just a little shocked at the price LOL).

I want to try and keep my order below £100 (or as close to) if possible. I need to get some more Menz polishes, as both my Power and Final Finishes have both pretty much ran out. Could do with a couple new pads. I was going to order the Iron-X too, plus I do need some more tar removal stuff (although ill just buy AG's finest, as I have about £8 left on a gift card for Halfords, so might aswell use it on something). Oh also mandatory addition of more microfibres LOL.

I still have loads of Dodo Juice Banana Armour left. Will that be alright to be getting on with?!

Put ph2 colour coded side strips on and get the handles done. No expensive products to worry about and it won't look pony.

The sunflowers have always suffered from that fading, the milky white is like the matte red/dull pink of the mini/vaxhaull red days! I can't remember who it was but I saw a post years back where that white was turned back to proper yellow with some tlc. Make sure we get a thread ;-)

Ph2 strips will not go near this car. By the time i've had them sprayed anyway, it'll cost the same for something that doesn't look as good. Standard strips FTW.

A thread will definitely be made for the detailing wh0res. Ill be keeping my project thread up to date regardless.

That's good news about the paint though. Just confused me as it is only the rear bumper that has properly faded.

Could be the direction it's parked/the amount of s**t that's been flicked up the back of the car and it hasn't been washed/the bumpers never been cleaned properly... Lots of things.

You have much to learn about ph1 modifying dear friend. Ph2 side strips are 900x better. They're a better shape, even not CC'd and the badges are so far superior it's untrue.

Nope. Ph1 Strips. Standard plastic with yellow 2.0 lettering. That'll do pig, that'll do!!

Lets hope it cleans it up well. That's the only real thing exterior wise thats keeping this car from being mint.

I love the 3M polishes and the pads. The colour system is immense but after using Menzerna polishes more they do have the edge for light to medium polishing. On heavy correction Fast cut is hard to beat but it does dry and dust like mad.

My favourite polish from both ranges is Menz 106FA. I use it as a one step product, great cut but finishing down with no marring or hologramming. Lovely and oily for working time and finishes down pin sharp.

I also love the 3M pads, the spot pads are poor as they fall apart but the large pads are very good. Yellow is gret for 1 step correcting and Blue is the best finishing polish/glaze pad out there imo.

Chemical Guys Hexalogic pads are immense, very robust nd a great range of them. It all depends on what you want to achieve. The great Hex pad offers great cutting ability for some correcting but not too robust to leave any marking.

Thanks gally I tried the hexlogic pads and they do take some stick only problem is It seemed to be taking ages to get any correction.

Hmm I might stick with menz then as they come in the smaller bottles. keeps the bill down lol.

Mate, you're a hero <3

I have a DA. Megs G220 iirc?! I have mostly Menz pads and a couple 3M atm, but they're a little worse for wear, so I was planning to just buy new for the Flower.

Keep the G220 it's fine for what you need mate. Spend the rest of products.

Get 106fa. 250ml bottle from somewhere, possibly CYC I think i4detailing do them aswell. Menz pads aren't great. Pick up a Yellow 3M pad for polishing and a Blue one for glazing if you don't already have them.

I'll update after lunch with the products mate and you can cross off what you already have. I can't decide on LSP though.

Nice one dude. Cheers.

I like the Menz pads tbh. I have the yellow 3M pad, which I couldn't get as good a correction level as the equivalent Menz. Ill give them another go though if you recommend.
