You don't need those polishes mate. FG is fantastic as is 106fa.

FG is for heavy correction.

I would buy 106fa and then a glaze until your competent enough with correcting.

Okay I did wonder if the FG was abit harsh. Il remove that and the compounding pad then. keeps the price down :)

Indeed mate. Polishing pad and a finishing pad with a glaze will give easier final product. If you read my Glaze thread and even the thread inside that thread you'll realise you don't have to polish a car to within an inch of it's life to gte a great final product. :)

106 FA will remove a lot of swirling and some marks the glaze will fill what's left. With the correct washing technique you should keep it swirl free for a while. :)

sorry harpham :rasp:

Out of the prima glaze and the chemical guys ex creme glaze? which one?
Also what can I use to seal my arches and wheels after a clean?

Right dudey!

Washing etc is all good.

Ironx is a must on a colour like that. Buy it.

Clay it. I'm loving Zaino Z16 clay atm it just feels that little bit softer than BiltHamber but for the price BH is great (You already know about all that jazz)

Polished using Menz 106FA 250ml bottle, perfect. It will remove that haziness easily and leave a lovely finish. I've checked and it should be solid colour, you really hope it's solid colour. If you can check with a cloth and some polish see if you gte paint transfer, i'd hope so anyway.

3M yellow or Hexalogic Green imo with the polish. Then 3M Blue or Hexalogic Blue finishing pad and a glaze.

Because it's never been detailed I would go with Prime acrylic via an MF applicator and get any crap left on the paint out. :)

Glaze... It's a bit of weird colour, I would have suggested Blackmax from I4detailing but I think it suits deeper colours. Probably Chemical guys EZ creme Glaze. Good filling but leaves a great acrylic layer for further products.

I'm thinking rejuvenate by machine might actually cut out the glaze and the cleanser. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/pre-wax-cleaners/auto-finesse-rejuvenate/prod_892.html It will cleanse and fill after polishing. Food for thought. So much choooooice!

What Waxes/Selants do you have mate?

Most of that adds up to about £65 before delivery, not too shabby!

Do you have fancy wheels? Really to seal them properly you'd be looking at Gtechniq C5 but that would require removing and heavily deep cleaning the wheels. The protection lasts around 2 years and you will only need a shampoo mix to clean them.

If you just want a cheap hand seal look at Optimum opti coat, it's a spray seal and easier to you than the crap like poorboys wheels sealant and will last longer.

You're arches really need C4's but that's a lot of work. See JD's thread on his wheels and arches. Or look at Chemical Guys Bare Bones that's a spray for arches.

Glaze wise Amigo is the best i've used, but Blackmax by britemax is almost the same product mate.

Nice one Gally!!

Waxes/sealants wise, I currently have Dodo Juice Banana Armour, Zaino Z2 (I think) and some random Vics wax (which I hate).

I have quite a bit of Lime Prime left. Would that be as good as the Auto Finesse stuff?! Probably worth me using that up as its done me proud as of yet.

Washing stages are all good. I still have a bit of i4d clay left over, but ill give the Zaino stuff a go. I have plenty of cars lined up, so can always use the i4d stuff on another car.

Shopping List:
- Iron X
- AG tar remover
- Zaino Z16 clay
- Menz polishes. (106FA - Do I need Final Finish?!)
- 3M yellow and Blue (Or Hexlogic Green and Blue)
- Auto Finesse Rejuvenate (If needed instead of LP)
- Prime Acrylic (http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/werkstat-prime-acrylic-cat9.html - If my current stuff isn't appropriate)
- Microfibres - Can never have enough microfibres!!

Would it be worth noting that this detailing session will be based on getting it back up to scratch and to keep it clean whilst its still cold. Before the shows (CSS in-particularly, not so fussed about the rest) I will be having another day of detailing.

Haha Thanks alot matey It is a big help :)

I Have pretty much ran out of everything at once got a little bit of vics concours wax. And I only ever used CG Wet mirror finish as a sealant.
Hmm the rejuvenate looks pretty good. Im not putting the order on today as im in no rush anyway so plenty of time for me to choose :)

LP is a good product but not for that kind of detail. I don't like the oils it leaves behind for bonding issues.

You don't need final finish unless using a harsh polish like FG500. Then it would be a 2 stage polish not a 1 stage like the 106fa.

Toughy. I'm going to suggest getting 106FA - Rejuvenate then LSP.

Get Werkstat Acrylic Jett sealant just now and save buying a nice wax and Prima Amigo for the summer, "Show season". It is still winter after all. :)

Pressure is on! ;)

Rejuvenate and acrylic will be winning mate.

Definitely 2 layers of Amigo and a wax in the summer. Sexual!

Pressure is definitely on. Lets see what i'm made of ;).

Cheers for the info dude. Really appreciate it. Hopefully get the Sunflower back to factory fresh by the time CSS rolls up!!!!
(First pictures of the flower coming tonight, as i'm about to go and drop my deposit off)

Sorry mate missed this post. No just f1's nothing special atall. doesnt need to be anything permanant as I will keep ontop of the wheels and arches once done.
I was thinking something like collinite or finishkare? Just something to make it easier to clean every quarter year say.

Yeah you could just buy some Collinites, just hand wax them. I'd use something like optimum only because of how wasy it is to use. Bare bones is the only thing really for arches mate, they won't stay black for very long though.

Okay cheers mate. Yeah not sure what to use for the arch liners will just have to clean them more often :)

Why not. I'm sure the girlfriend's parents will love about 10 Clio's rocking up one day. LOL ;)
(I haven't even asked the g/f if Greg coming down too would be alright, as I feel cheeky about it lol)

I want to come and learn about detailing properly, also to take some nice pictures.

Oh hai.

This the one I sent you? Out of interest what lube did you use with it?

I use demonshine from Asda 50/50 with water. Sometime 75% water. Superb clay lube mate.

Either that or shampoo and water. I don't believe in clay lube products.

The demon shine is uber slick.

I used the Z16 on a TT. Still got most of the bar left.

Yeah I used it with demonshine 50/50 last time I used it few months ago now so all good :)

Found it really good just seeing if you had used it with something else.

Happy to help mate.
If you ever need advice on exercise/fitness, ill help you out ;).

I'm sure she'll be ok with it, as long as you're not a thief or will cause damage to anything?! ;)
If the weather is ok though, I may just do it at my house. Ill see what its like...

First photos of the Flower have just gone in my project thread btw!! ;)

Will you go to the gym for me? I don't like the people in them.

Bit of a bump.

1. No Deal, Gally. I can give you advise (;)) on how to get fit though.
2. Whats the best way to clean arches? Products? Brushes etc? (If theres already a dedicated thread on this, could you direct me to it please).
Also, 3. What wheel brushes can you recommend? My s**tty Silverline (or whatever) ones are fubard. Fed up of buying cheap, crap ones.

Hopefully going to get my bits ordered this week, ready for a bit of a session next week!! :)

1, gym is for lazy sods! lol get out on your bike or for a run. lovely weather for it.
2, G101 seems to get mentioned for arches, or a general APC and probably a tar remover. JD has a thread on here somewhere, recommended sealing with C4. have a look for the vikan brushes.
3, again vikan brushes or I've just got myself an EZ detail brush

Definitely g101 from Autosmart. A household without it is a sad household. I use it for everything!

Vikan brushes are ideal for the arches.

The Ez brush is the only brush worth buying for wheels. I've had those silverline ones I still use it for iron x sometimes.

Have a look at Chemical guys bare bones mare. It's a dressing for arches. Won't last long but nothing except C4 will.

I put the remaining amount of C4 on my arch liners LOL. <3

I do like to burn money.

go for tardis or oblitarate over AG tar remover, check out polishedbliss for stock. GT C4 is the same as C1/C5 but most places were out of stock IIRC, as a non permanent alternative try revive. GT T1 for tire shine gets my vote. and if you're looking for more snow foam, have a play with citrus power as a wax safe pre spray.

for sunflower I'd consider a glaze / filler heavy to help bring out the colour. What were you planning to use to seal with?

Forget the AG stuff mate. The tar remover is like water.

You can buy megs endurance tyre gel from Halfords. I've had my bottle nearly 3 years now. Still yet to find a better one for me.

Buy some AF obliterate.
