Suspension Height & Weight Of Petrol Help!

[S22 JGS]

Just been out with tape measure, and the rear right is about 8mm lower (from ground to arch) than the rear left... turned the car round, and its the same.

Yet the nuts are both wound down to the platform so should be the same height.

Would just under half a tank of fuel have this effect?

Don't see how this could be possible, as the rear end/suspension is not idependant, plus 8mm is nothing,

if the tank is more toward one side of the vehicle then yes. also there isnt really much point in having coilovers unless they are corner weighted one side of a fwd car will always be heavier (thus making lower) due to engine heavier than box etc HTH

But the rear suspension is one solid peice at the back, so one side can't be lower than the other (apart from flex) i wouldn't worry about 8mm though!

i guess the spare wheel is also more to the right also.

of course it can....what do you think happens when you drive over a stone... both wheels dont jump up

both wheels go over bumps independently of each other the beam twists. a small amount of force is applied to the opposite wheel but not enough to make it move a lot.

I expect if everyone went out and measured their cars 80% would be slightly different. There are much more important things to worry about in life than 8mm!!!

and i cant understand how when both plates are wound right down to the platform, the two sides can be as much as 8mm different

you'll be lucky to get it within 5mm, they're like that from factory, uber sensetive to surface

You could have 2mm difference in tyre tread?? Maybe 2mm tolerance on the coilovers?? Maybe having fuel in the car moves it down a further 4mm??

I'm going to measure mine in the morning lol.

To many variables, body panel alighnment, paint thickness, laquer thickness, tyre tread, ground levelness, and that beam will have deformed with age and i dougt the tolerance level would be that high in the factory.

mine is slightly out too (H&R) even swapped around the springs and its still the same lol!

i just thought 8mm was quite a large difference....especially as it didnt change when i turned the car round, so if the ground was uneven it shoulda evened out/revered the difference

Mark will have set the fronts at different height also i would imagine
