Suspension help needed!

Hi I have a 2002 Clio DCi and am looking to lower it subtly to about 35mm and would like to know what the advantages of having springs and shocks are rather than just springs?

will springs alone ruin the remaining standard suspension parts?

also what are the best springs to get on a budget?

don't wanna spend a fortune but don't wanna have to replace them in 6 months either!

Best do a search.

IMO either spend a lot of forget it stock is very good.
