Suspension kit to replace 172 cup crap

  172cup
Hey all.

Right... my rear dampers are completely fecked, and decided rather than pay out for new dampers from Reno, i'm going to get a set of aftermarket springs/shocks.

What am I to buy? Someone please guide me in the right direction.

I want something that is going to be a million times better than standard 172 cup suspension. I couldn't keep up with a trophy... or a 182 cup a while back. Both outhandled me.

I don't mind spending about £600-700 max, although cheaper the better. Whats the options/preference? I'm assuming coilovers are the way to go.

Also... how will if affect it with the dampers being a seperate mounting point from the springs? (pardon my ignorance, i've only dealt with dampers stuck inside the springs). I assume that whatever kit i buy will be specific to the cup? Also, would i need a camber correcting bolt?

Thanks guys.

Either the other drivers are far better than you, or your suspension is proper f***ed. No way does a Trophy/182 "outhandle" a 172 cup.

H&R coilies are what you want if you are looking for an upgrade, if you pay over £700 you are getting tucked up. But as Mark says unless the drivers are far more capable then you then you shouldnt have been getting outhandled by other standard cars.

i dunno about better drivers... but my NS rear damper had no give... completely solid, and my OS rear damper was springing about like nothing on this planet. If you went too fast round a corner/roundabout then it was on 2 wheels, and trying to smash you face first into the kerb.

Othertimes, you would be on a straight road, and out of no where it would turn you severely into the barriers. If you went over a manhole cover it was trying to spin me lol.

I can get hold of a set of KW Coilovers, I have two sets available, the first which is a Varient 1 has fixed rate damping, at £659.

Alternatively I can get hold of the V2 Kit which has adjustable rebound and height, which works out at £829.

Both of these prices are standard customer prices, i can sort out a discount if you are intrested.

PM Me if you want more details

as said get some coilovers vast improvement over the standard setup plus looks miles better, H&R seem to be rated.

dont forget to budget for fitting and setup could be upto £200 depending where you go.
