suspension probem?

  RB182 FF ASTRA GSI T
when i lowered my car the other day, the rubber block between the top of the spring and the 17mm compression bolt was loose how can this be solved?

yes the rubber bit was loose, also when the car spins the wheel bounces alot and sounds terrible

2.0 nova? havnt got any pics forgot to take some. above the spring is the metal plate that holds the springs down, then a big rubber piece that goes where the 17mm compression bolt is that was loose

well tighten it up... shouldnt b loose, did you replace the guide bit and the bearing that goes underthe bottom of the rubber thing your talking about and the top metal bit above the spring

it was loose when i removed it, i was getting alot of wheel bounce whilst driving which i believe is down to this, the 17mm nut only tightens up so much and wont go any further

solid top mounts, probably

can't believe someone hasn't just come up with a way of fixing this yet - may be 're-engineered' donuts?

bit you can only do up when off the car with the hole strut or you talking about the topmount i.e the bit under the bonnet that you can out an AL key and spanner on?

its because the rubber strut mount is loose, just need to know if this can be solved with a washer? or does any1 know how much they arE? cheers

they're about £60 for a car set if you buy the rubber donut and the bearing race from somewhere like ECP (got part numbers if you want them - although i think they're on search as well)

they'll be 'better' as the rubber donuts compress with age, but you'll have the same problem before too long, as they're just a poor design

ed. unless you spend a fortune on solid mounts
ed2. the washer 'fix' doesn't work, either
