suspension./wierd noise

  www.renparts.co.uk
How tight should the bubber doughuts be on top of the suspension (IE those in the engine bay)?

Also im getting a strange whining noise coming from my n/s rear wheel. Sounds very feint and can only be heard on a smooth road doing less than 40. Fingers crossed its not a wheel bearing, the car has only done 36k.
thanks
josh

Im sure someone will correct me if Im wrong - I dont think the donuts need to be tight at all - from what I can see they serve no purpose other than to stop the struts falling out when the wheels are off the ground.
I would think they just need to be tight enough to stop them shaking loose - in fact the whole of the top suspension mount on these cars is a joke - its not actually attached to anything - the stuts just kind of rest in the turrets then the donut is fitted on top to stop them falling out.

still can't work out what this whining noise is. are wheel bearings a common problem? are they easy to change? how much can you get them for?
thanks
