swap for free 172 v Cup

lets just say that I was struck by temporary insanity, and I decided to buy another brand new reno at the weekend.

Would a dealer do me a straight swap for my C172 for a brand new Cup? If not, whats the maths involved to do the change? Im really warming to the Cup now.

Just rip your AC & ABS out, and ditch the spare, sell that lot and............

Voilla you have a cup for free!

spend the money you got for the aircon and abs on a full respray to cup blue, and a set of cup alloys.. viola

slight problem. What about all the suspension tweaks and mods? Well need to do those as well. I know! Ill whack it against the kerb a few times and see if that helps. Sheesh, I am so smart!

Trying to turn a 172 into a cup is defeating the whole purpose of why you bought a 172 to start with - it will never be a cup just as kitting a cup with leather, aircon, thicker glass, headrests, tray under passenger seat, xenons, rocker cover, spare wheel, 60:40 split folding rear seats, 172 suspension, traction control, ESB, ABS, 172 alloys, heat reflecting windscreen, taking of the cup spolier and front splitter and adding 172 spolier and no splitter, removing the special paint, adding sound deadening and about another 20 things Ive missed will not make a cup into a 172.

Trade for a new one for not much more or trade for a second hand one! Strip out your 172 if you must but please dont stick cup badges on it and call it a cup coz it aint - thats like calling a BMW M3 which has been stripped out a BMW MS CSL (new striped out M3 lighter with more poke) Hey it seems everyones catching on...................
 


KFD, on the topic of supension tweeks??

How do you propose to widen the front and rear tracks by 20mm and 10mm respectively?

yes, I was indeed jesting about turning my 172 into a Cup, but I was quite serious about trading it in for one.

And if I want to stick Cup badges on it, I damn well will (except I wont. Im not that sad!)

... and how much theyre selling the Cup for!

hmm, ok, Ben, that and a bottle of red wine and its a done deal.

(an un-related aside, but as its my post I can do what I like. My mate recently advertised his Pug 306 1.4 with a blown engine. He got one call from a bloke who said If I come down and see the car, you will keep the seats in it, wont you? I dont want you to take the seats out My mates like ...and wtf do you think Im gonna do with the seats!)

I rekon a few tuning tweeks to the 172 would be a better option than trading it in. Youll loose a lot of money doing that with a deal I assure you (probably about 2 1/2 grand) Imagine the performance mods 2 1/2 grand would get you.

Eh ye I was joking.. but you would make the track wider the same way the done it on the Cup.

JEESE guys!

no need to try differentiate the cup that much, but its true, 60/40 folding seats just make it so much faster.

Suspensio tweeks, what tweeks..........what they did do makes such a little diff its silly.

track, use offset like the cup.....oh oh, your changing your scrum radius and SAI offset! and we all know thats REALLY bad.....especially since the 172s tiny bit of positive SAI offset is about the optimum.

and badges, why do that, they look horrid!

BTW, tis but a jest.....i can easily point out the opposite to you guys....dont get so excited! lol
