swapping from type r to 182

still got the pug and 182. choice of 20k, hard one. maybe a honda s2000 or do another project. tell you the truth no sure. was lookin at evos and subarus but for one 2 many subarus and cant get insured for the evo

I dont mean to but in, but my g/f brother has a CTR and my mate has a 172 with a BMC filter - on the straight it was neck and neck, around corners the CTR had no chance!

Go for the clio - awsome car, and cheaper insurance!

I have a skyline R32 GTS-T i need to get ride of. Imported it as a project then never got around to doing anything, it has a few mods already but insurance is too much, not to mention the costs of parts - paid £16.50 for 2 fuses!!!

see if your wanti a car just to have fun in, buy a 106 gti and spend some money on it. mine is so much fun its no true. handles really well. honestly youd have a laugh

if you had a choice of cars upto 20k, what would you get ??
No question a late escort cossie!
They may still have good road appeal but they are cack.Imagine a subaru or evo 8 with all the gadgets and then remove the computer and replace it with a cinclair C5 ECU and youll get the idea

A guy at work has one and had a rolling road set up one week and lost 58 bhp in a week. Its only got 300bhp and went back to nearly standard in 7 days.Messing with these cars is a labour of love and if i had 15k to spend it would be an evo 7.My friend is gutted and is on the verge of selling up due to the hit and miss bhp its producing

ian

P.S i think you should go for the 182 over the type R

IMHO keep the CTR. Dont get me wrong the 182 is a fantastic drivers car if you can put up with its many faults. I love mine to death, it out accelarates most things out there and show it some twistys and you can almost hear it saying "thankyou, treat me like a b**ch!"

Ive had mine since new from dealer at end of November 2004. Its been back to the dealer 5 times so far and now needs to go again for engine mounts and a dodgy sounding clunking noise from the steering and blowing exhaust, not to mention the rattles and squeaks that seem to be multiplying by the day!

Every time I think to myself - thats it Ive had enough of this car and the crappy Renault customer service - I get in and after driving for 10 mins I forget the probs and just enjoy the finest drivers car at this price money can buy, but if I had a CTR I wouldnt swap. Theyre so similar in character but the CTR having better build quality and dealer support and much better residuals would clinch it for me.

zippyy,

Good choice mate.Just out of interest, what made you decide to go for one and what were your initial impressions ? Its sometimes hard to tell from a test drive but what did you think ?

Just thought id give my opinion

I currently have a civic type r, 04 plate , black , lovely piece of kit. But i have decided to go for a 182 instead.

For one the price. I have ordered a spankers 182 in arctic blue with all the cup packs, the recaro option, cd changer all for £13000 !!!! That is a lot of kit for the money. My type r has a gear stick and cd player.lol

Yeah the build quality might not be as goog but to be honest the build quality inside the cabin is very cheap on my civic. all the silver is wearing off most of the panels after only a year. There are several knockings from the steering rack too.

Yeah in a straight line the civic is quicker and sounds rather nice but against my mates 172 with new filters on the road there aint much in it and in the wet i aint got a chance.

Im not slating the civic at all i love it to pieces but if you want a clio just go for it, loads of kit at a small price. And even if it goes wrong, YOU HAVE A WARRANTY.
