Swapping over rear shocks, quick question.

Does the rubber mount/washer type thing ontop of the shock come off? I have a set of replacement shocks that have no mount on the top but when I took my old shock off the car I couldn't remove it to swap it over? Any ideas?

They come off really easy!

:S I actually gave it a few fairly hard cracks with the lump hammer and bolster and couldn't get it to shift even 1mm! it would spin and turn but just need shift off! As I said I didn't want to go mental on it in case I left myself stranded with a broken shock!

Breaker bar

Socket

Done

How would this work?! Just incase everyone is not understanding me, im talking about the rubber mount that lives on the strut and sits under the car not the rubber mount thing inside the car under the cap.

Anyway, the brand new 1's I am picking up have new parts on them.

do you have a picture?

no, but basically on the shock you have 2 washer type things, 1 that sits inside the car under the 16mm retaining nut and 1 that sits under the car directly ontop of the shock (it slides over the sliding bar) well its the 1 underneath. As said I bought a brand new set from renault yesterday so it doesnt really matter anymore but out of interest.
