well i posted this kinda topic ages ago when my knowledge of cleaning was rubbish.and i got an answer

now i am using all the advised products etc but am still getting swirl marks

i wash the car using a 2 bucket method, and use a wash mit and water magnet to dry it

last week i clayed, scratch - x'ed, polished and waxed the car (in that order)

(all using mothers products)

but on the first clean again today since waxing etc...i have found swirl marks again

please help....

It sounds like you didn't remove them in the first place perhaps only covered them up and after a few washes they were revealed again.

Don't beat yourself up about wash tecnique as however careful you are when washing you will always inflict some micromarring its inevitable although this can be minimised by good tecniques. However if removed in the first place you shouldn't see them for a good while!

^^Have you got a pc as you won't 'remove' them without a pc I'm afraid!

I can't remember if you contacted me before FCS, not too far away anyway just the otehr end of the fosse way!

I've taken to using a soft brush (from a Karcher power washer) instead of a sponge or mitt. I feel this is less likely to trap bits of sand or grit and thus less likely to cause swirl marks.

Another advantage of a brush is that you can't push too hard on it (because the bristles just bend). With a sponge you can give it too much elbow grease and cause swirls/scratches that way.

Still would advise rinsing brush regularly though while washing.

I have no professional car cleaning experience so please disregard this if you think it's wrong!
