tappets and cylinder head problems

Hi Guys. Just wondering if anyone can help me. Took my car in to renault this week with leaking rocker cover and noisy tappets. They stripped out the engine and apparently one of the tappets had seized and has taken chunks out of the cams. They are telling me that this is not covered on warranty and as a good will gesture will pay £1400 of it but I will have to pay the other £700. Apparently I now need a whole new cylinder head.You would think this would be covered on warranty. Its a pain cus it is a lot of money.

My question is then what does the warranty actually cover. They are trying to claim this is wear and tear

not wear and tear. contact customer services. major engine faults are covered. the more you fight them the more likely they will pay full lot.

Take the car to one of the much approved tuning companys talked about on cliosport and have the head and cams sorted out.

It would cost less there and you could get a lil tune up while your at it!?

Just a thought.

yeah thats what I thought. They do my head in.Going to go up in a bit and have words i think. How much you recon it cost to get a head and cams done and one of these companies

Im really not sure matey. best bet is to get in contact with Angelworks or GDI. Both are in Bedford though, not sure where your from and where you could travel to.

As said, ring customer services. I always find everywhere i go customer services will bend over backwards and authorize things that the shop/dealer simply wouldn't. Always worth a crack.
