Test drove a 182 today

Went to the renault garage near where I live today to look at a blue x demo 182, its done 5000 miles. I have to say i loved driving it, gave it some along some dual carriageway and it definitely put a smile on my face like my 106 does. Loved the ride and interior, was firm but comfy. So it looks like i'm buying a 182 next week
p.s its already got cup suspension and packs etc etc

you say that but my friend and me spoke about this and my 106 wouldn't be far behind to 60 if anything in it at all, but it just felt so nice to drive loved it. Not sure if the salesman loved me going for it on a nice b-road . The 106 feels more raw if anything, both good cars though. Going to miss it but I'm going to have fun in the 182.

Went to look at a S3 also, the sales woman on another note was FIT, anyway this was up for 13,995 yellow with 17" alloys looks lovely, but think i'm still going for the 182, whats insurance like on s3's i'm 24

Insurance was the same for me on an S3 and a 182. Got a 182 in the end!

really thats interesting, if I have to choose I think i'm going 182 need to drive the S3 but i don't think it'll excite like the 182 could be wrong though. Loved how smooth it felt and the exhaust note was quite naughty

A bit off topic but out of the two if I had the option, I think I'd pick the S3.

But yeah, it was a 182 test drive that made up my mind to get a Renaultsport, albeit a cheaper, older one!

I think it depends on what you want out of a car?

182 - fun factor, value for money.

S3 - a bit more of a cruiser compared to a 182, better build quality.

Good lad, as for the difference in speed i know the 106gti is quicker than some expect but alot of it will be down to your own perception, my old 5 turbo felt faster than my 172 when i bought it but after numerous times putting the cars against each other (my mate had bought the 5 off me) the 172 was faster it was just that the 5 was noisier less refined and felt faster.

They are quicker than the 106 GTI (not by that much, but they are quicker) if they wasnt he would probably buy something else

Well they are at least 1 second faster to 60, probably at least 5 seconds faster to 100 and have another 10 mph at least top end, so that is a fair difference IMO.

I just can't decide what car i want, the more I think of the S3 the more i like the idea of it, it has all the toys in it and 6 speed gear box etc etc, but then I keep thinking of the 182 and thinking how nice it is to drive and that kick I got at 5k. On another note I saw a dark blue (don't know the colour name) 172 at a garage for 7495 on a 51 plate that looked nice to. Any other suggestions what cars I should look at for around 10k to possible 13k. My dad thinks I should look at the fabia Vrs but not sure I could drive around with my mates taking the pee, even though there good cars

Have you driven an S3 ? I drove one and that helped me make my mind up, it wasnt for me.

Depends what you want, you can get a VX220 for 10-13K if you are after something a little different and fun to drive.

When I bought my 182 i was faced with the same decision 182 or S3, in the end i never test drove the S3 becuase the 182 was fantastic when i test drove it and was better for finanicial reasons, cheaper running costs and insurance etc

the main reason i picked the 182 though was because i got a brand new car and for the same money I would have got an S3 with 40-50k on it

No haven't test drove one yet, doing that next weekend hopefully. I think i'm going to get the clio as it just felt so good to drive.
