The 1000th rokkor coilovers vs eibach sportlines thread

  e92 330i
Right I'm sure this has been coverd many times but I can't find the right answer, most of the rokkor threads have people debating what 1.2 has what bolt spacing etc etc,

The situation is this, currently I have sportlines nd standard 14" steelies (cool huh), and in the garage I have 4 oz f1s waiting on 2 tyres to be fitted. The sportlines sit great on rear with the 14s and a tad high on the front, trial fitted the.f1s (15" btw) and the gaps tromendous, it may settle in 10 mins of driving but it's still there.

The sportlines IMO are the top springs to buy ride/handling/comfort and drop is ok. Rokkor coils are by no means 'quality coilovers' but they do go low enough. I know there bouncy etc etc but I drive a 1.2, it's not going on track isit?

I have a fair amour of sleeping policemen on my journeys also, so would regret the change? Has anybody made the swap? How was the coils to the springs?

Sorry for a long one but saves people asking why what n when.

Thanks in advance.

Ive done the sportlines > FK's change and can say FK's are much better and more fun as you can adjust them as much as you like. Same as the rokkors, Its a 1.2 at the end of the day so its gonna be for show mainly and not so much go, So you'd wont the best drop and not really be bothered about ride?

I dont know what ride the rokkors give, but they are coilovers at the end of the day. They will be firmer than springs on standard dampers.

I have plenty of speedbumps and s**t roads where I go, but you get over it. If its impractically low, its cool. ;)

I suppose, I thought the sports were harder but I'm used to them now, be the same with the coils I guess. I'd love fk's or vmaxx but out of my price range unfortunately. How uncomfortable are the fk's? Ok as a daily? May even look into 60mm springs, haven't seen many around though tbh.

TBH, I don't care much. People always complain and go "f**k its bumpy in here" but they don't come from modified car's scence. They are impressed by the drop and cornering though. I cant comment much on them though, because mine have fully adjustable damping. I have them set up fairly soft for daily because the roads are awful.

I'd say with 60mm springs on standard dampers you'll have a crashy ride that wont handle that well. Sportlines are a great compromise before coilovers.

Just keep checking ebay and you can pick up a bargain on a used set of of coilovers.

Rokkors are better than springs.
I had 60mm Apex springs and thought they were ok, I got rokkors and they're better.

My cars pretty low, I get over 1/20 speedbumps without any bother.
Its an ok ride, but for £180 you can't complain at all! I have quite a bit of trust in my car now, a tonne better than springs in the corners.

Yeah u would change dampers and springs if I went 60mm, but then again that would be £300-500 so might aswell get coils eh.

Buy cheap, buy twice I guess.

Cheers Jon. The adjustable damping on the fk's really seem to sell it, guess I'll look out for the second hand ones or save my pennies.

I knew this would be the answer, just not the best one lol.

Yeah, I had eibach springs on another car, they were ok.
Coilovers > springs though ;)

Yeah, I'd maybe just say don't hold out for adjustable damping. I have got these http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/product_info.mhtml?product=555578403 and as you can see they are not cheap new. I found them on ebay going cheap, as they were used. Still more expensive used then new rokkors, but slightly cheaper than new vmaxx. I wasn't really looking for adjustables but they came up and thought they are a bargain.

I hardly change the firmness of mine tbh.

philly, have you had your tracking etc done yet? id recommend rokkors like, theyre cheap, they give a good drop and they peform. my mates saxo is dropped on eibachs i believe and my rokkors are slightly more comfy than his springs.

I suppose. But good springs vs not so great coils?

They similar to the konigsports? I'm
Looking at the highsports, they just use fk rear dampers and aren't adjustable? But then I guess they're just the same as rokkor, if not only abit better

His saxo dampers could be fubard.

fubard? he said they 'arent standard dampers but they arent good dampers' lol. iirc i heard rokkor coilovers are the same ones ktec are selling for £300 just a different colour :S dont quote me like but i havent had problems with them yet touch wood... apart from being too low ha

Just thrown this together:
High-Sport : Zinc Plated, non-adjustable damping.
Konig-Sport: Koni dampers, front damping adjustable, not rear
Silverline: Fixed Damping pre-set by FK. Polised Zinc Plated
Silverline X: Koni dampers, full adjustablity, Polised Zinc Plated

Only rough, taken from europerformance. So hope that helps a tad.

That helps loads, cheers bud. I was looking at all 4 like wtfs the difference lol. I think I'll rock sportlines for a month or so, if the gap is still big enough to build a block of flats I'll have a bash at the rockers, if all else fails I can sell them at a small loss. Anybody near herts fancy giving me a passenger ride on rockers?

I bought my sportlines for about £120 sold them 2 years later for £80. They have gone up in price now though. Still make your money back with just about everything you buy tbh.

Yeah I think I have your old sportlines (bloke who bought from you didn't need um so I took them from him)

What's involved after fitting coilovers? Wheel alignment? Camber? Need Camber bolts? Spacers?(will be fitting oz f1s which are 7j with 195 on) any thing else?

Lol, they've got around then.
Yeah alignment, camber. You may need spacers for f1's I've heard people having to use them before. Pretty sure with the rokkors you dont need camber bolts either.

I need my alignment and camber sorting again anyway.
