The 3 red lights of doom!

Thought i'd got away with it but the 360 has finally given in! .... 8 months in and mine is the last to give up the ghost (3 friends i know have all been fixed in the last 6 month). First i was getting the odd 3 red lights (once a week) and now it either locks up after 10 mins or wont boot at all. I'm glad its happened in a way and its goin back to MS because in 4 months the warranty will be out. The indian guy I spoke to was pretty good which makes a change and i could understand what he was saying which was a bonus, however i was on hold for 28 mins ! which is a bit poor for the biggest tech co in the world.

Gutted mate. I'm on my 3rd 360. 1st one never worked properly had it for about 3 weeks - could only read disks 5/10 times. 2nd one lasted 8 days before I got the red lights, staff in Game referred to it as the 'ring of death' lol! Build quality is shocking on these things.

Be interestin to see if they fix or replace it. I might jot down the serial before dhl collect it. I wonder if the 12 month warranty will start again on a replacement ? Have to say i wont be impressed if it f*ks up when the warranty is out.

Mine died with the 3 red light desease earlier this month...

UPS guy collected mine on Wed 2nd Aug...still waiting for it to come back. I phoned them up and they said that they didn't receive it thier end untill Thurs 10th Aug!!! WTF is up with that....they seem to think I will be getting it back this Weds. fingers crossed....

Still not been picked up! Rang MS last nite to find out whats goin on, on hold for 22 mins and then some guy answered and said everyones busy we will ring you back. Give him my details and guess what no f*ker rang back. P*issed off at the moment, another wkend with no eggbox, not happy!

WELL THE SAGA CONTINUES .................. 10 days now .....

Just spoke to someone at Microsoft AGAIN (an english guy this time thank f*k !). Apparently someone come to collect a week ago but no one was in ??? no card left nothing ?? I said i rang on Friday (spoke to indian guy) to see what was goin on and i was told the packing labels are on their way. The guy said the repair order just gets put on hold so basically no one would have ever come to pick it up again. FFS ! Why wasnt i told this on Friday ?

He said did you not want your labels emailing ?????????????? what ? i wasnt even given a choice, didnt know ?? OF COURSE I WILL HAVE THEM EMAILED. :S

Now the original repair has been cancelled and a new one setup, labels being emailed today.

Not a happy camper !

Well its back!

.. but they dont ghost the drive or copy anything over so EVERYTHING has gone (all saved games, all downloads etc..) :dapprove:

.. seems a lot quieter aswell

I assume my warranty will still only last until December when i bought my original. Is it worth getting any type of extended warranty ? Anyone else done it ?

I think you should be alright now Clart....but to be honest if it does break they don't charge you for sending it back...they pay for postage and everything so you may aswell just get one if your interested and see what happens...just mean you may not have it for a few days while they fix it (if it breaks)

the first time i sent it back I made 1 call that was answered in seconds, I was on the phone for about 10mins and it was piece of piss! WTF is up with that!!!!

Yep! Its only a very small amount anyway. Mine was one of the first batch and ive had no problems (touch wood)
