Yes but where does it state on the car that it is a 172? Although my car is just an ordinary model "172" and not a Cup, there is nothing to say that it is a 172, so assuming this to be the same on the "172 Cup" really you might be better getting a plate with a single or double number for only £250

To an onlooker who isnt aware of the "172" connection on a Clio, it would appear that you have just an older ordinary number as the DVLA normally sell single, double up to 20 or multiples of the same number. Whereas if you had something like T6 CUP or one of the 25 pages of CUP numbers.

My initials are ABC - so unless i had loads a wonga i couldnt get that so went for something interesting instead - and of course i will have my M3 in a couply of years so will put it on that

Trouble is - if you get a plate that refers to your car it looks daft if you transfer it to another model. Often see cars whose owners have fallen on hard times - T535 BMW on a Pug 206 for example.

Its nice to get a plate that means something to you rather than your car - that way you can keep it whatever car you get.

Just thought it was a intersting plate for the money. Tried alot of options but there wasnt a plate that matched my initials or name nor was there a plate that matched the car, so in the end went for something that looked quite different. I actually really like the number. And for £170 you cant complain!

GR that well may be the case but i dont want a plate like D666 ABC because to me thats not really anything different to the normal 7 digit number plate.

Also i dont want to put on a prefix which is older than my car actully is.

I also wanted one which i beleive would be worth more than £250 Something like M60ABC or M300 ABC just has too many digits to be worth that much. However M3 XAX i believe is worth far more than £170 i bought it for.
