So today I took ownership of a mk1 :). It's in need of a fair bit of work but a good start (i think)

Theres a fair bit to sort out both archs need attention and ive bought a carpet off ebay. I'm toying with the idea of gunmetal grey plasti dip for the whole car

The main issue ive got is once it's started if i turn off the ignition it won't start for about 20-30 mins then it will fire. Not sure what this is yet it's got a toad alarm was thinking imobaliser?

Will be putting my td 1.2s on it also

Got two weird looking headphone shaped keys anywhere with two buttons on. Toad alarms ( ones I've worked on ) have had those feckers and the big button needs pressing to get it to start on key,

Nice project btw, gives me even more hope to buy a valver/willy to restore.
Give it a good polish up, spray the fucked bits with rattle can red and then save up for a proper respray? Originality , think of the originality ;)

Depend who wired it in and to what. If your good enough with electrics then it should be an alright job.

But if your feeling lazy and fancy getting the mk1 god on it , get martin to work his magic

Well I'm getting some where with the dodgy starting.

The pumps fine runs of a direct live and earth put a direct earth still didn't cure it but if it not started the car will prime every 5 minutes

Thinking coolent temp senser

Well today after confirming the cam belt has snapped. I decided to start tidying up the interior fitted the 182 front seats and started on the rears. I also fitted a carpet with some sound deadening borrowed from the 182.

So i don't drive but its a nicer place to sit

Today I removed the top dash to look at the loom spotted a rust bubble! Turned into a fair bit of rot across the inside scuttle :-(

Scrap yard is calling I think

Going to have rust mate it's 20+ years old now

Personally I would tidy it up the best you can bodywork wise and get yourself a set of turbines which are for sale everywhere at the moment in a high pearl silver

as above mate, its going to have rust issues, they all do, so choice is either take the hit and weld it up or ignore and just tidy up round it :)
