The 'I work in I.T' thread

Had the pleasure of installing a Sharepoint server yesterday to try and play with this latest security issue, installing it didn't make me want to kill myself which was a nice surprise.

A lot of boards are pretty bare atm

Many staff staying put due to the state of the economy and job market etc

Yeah my conclusion from a few hours of searching is that it’s dire out there. There are some jobs but the salaries are laughable, public sector ones are the funniest.

I quite fancy training as a HGV driver, might do that.

It's what I'm doing, theory booked 3/9! Then a course down in Essex on the back of it. Not bad for £2k tbh.

Though how I think that'll be any more enjoyable when being on the road for 10 minutes in the morning winds me up enough already 😂

I just got a request for a report, needed by Monday or there's a large financial penalty, and worded almost like it was going to be my responsibility for his bad planning, I'm sure it was to try and scare me into doing it faster, however it'll be done when it's done.
He can have a load of s**t today, or an accurate report when I'm happy with it.

I just am not a people person.

The sales team did a s**t job in Q1 and my company missed its targets, so they’ve frozen recruitment to save money. All recruitment, including backfill.

We are three heads down at the moment, all needing to be backfilled, and we are blocked until at least Q3. Workload is high and I’m back on the coal face as a result. f**king joke. New hires I would kinda understand (although I bet they’d find money for sales/marketing) but backfill is existing budget. Absolute w*****s.

Thought I'd best ask here, or maybe it's the pc thread I need?

Our boat has a PC for the navigation. We're hitting big waves and it turns itself off. The power cable is loose in it. Is there anything safe that can glue it in place?

It’s just a round power cable I think it’s got pins/slots in it.
When it happens again I’ll take a photo.

Edit. It’s not one of those you posted.
