Is it possible to do multiple LIKES on here?!:cool:

Do you live over in Calgary then? With ^^^^ this ^^^^ on the way? Good god.... The amount of roads over there that I'd revisit with an Evo. Granted, there are long stretches of straight'ish stuff - but other sections are epic.

AWD capability in a Rocky Mountain backdrop? Yes please!

I loved getting cars to look at through auction.
I might sell the Teg and import something for that buzz, LOL!

Just look at some of the varying engine types on this page alone....

  • Rotary turbo
  • Standard 4-pot
  • 4-pot turbo
  • Flat-4 turbo
  • V6
.....non-fans might call the Jap stuff many things, but the lack of variety can't be one of them!

@Darren S Yep I moved out to Calgary from London/Essex area.

It is getting the Canadian equivalently of a MOT today so might have my hands on it this evening. Some of the mountain roads will be very good fun.

Similar to the USA's 25 year importation rule Canada has a 15 year rule.

@Phase1sr - the whole auction process is great fun from Japan, the wait for the car is the worst!

This will be my second Jap auction purchase, I had this Legacy GTB E-Tune for about 8 months.

I was just about to post that. I suspect you'll see more and more now they're 15 years old. All we tend to ship to Canada is Land Rover 90's! lol

Chasers.
The Jap auctions are littered with many many cool/interesting cars. It's hard not to be tempted the whole time.

But if someone knows where my old 172 PH1 is, i'd like to import that to Calgary!

I've always thought it would make a good dog carrier and general work horse, what was is like to live with in terms of mpg, maintenance etc, are they quick?

To sum up the GTB, I'd say they are like a poor mans RS6. Importing one is very cheap (i paid about 2750 pounds landed in Vancouver)
280bhp twin turbo, Bilstein suspension from the factory.
I had mine for 8 months and apart from an oil change and installation of a block heater to cope with the cold winters. It needed nothing.
MPG isn't fantastic compared to the modern standards, but I could happily live with it.
They are quick think they book 0-60 around 5.8 seconds and handle well for a barge.

A poor man's RS6 sounds good to me, i've only looked at them as an alternative to Impreza Wagons as they're a lot cheaper for a good one and they come with a lot more power as standard, what mpg did they get, low 30's?

I'd say mid 20's as a combined figure would be realistic. Nudging 30 when cruising.
They are a great car for the money.

Yeah that's going to be expensive in the UK, I imagine fuel is a hell of a lot cheaper in Canada?
That's a good point, very true, petrol price move around like crazy here but at the moment it's 52p a liter but has been as low as 45p this year.

Nice one! I was first out there for nearly three months back in the summer of '95. The whole place really struck a chord with me - so much so that I've been back several times since.

The 2nd time I went in '98, I inadvertently timed it just right. I'd originally wanted to go in March, but the boss at work refused it as that was coming up to the end of the tax year and the busiest time for us as a business. He had no issue with me going in May instead, which worked out brilliantly. Nearly everything was starting to open up in time for the tourist season - yet hardly any tourists had arrived. It felt like the whole country was an amusement park pretty much to yourself - and cheap to boot (back then, anyway!)

So many memories of the place. Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Vancouver, Vancouver Island, the Inside Passage, Juneau, Skagway, Yellowknife, Dawson City, Alaska..... the list goes on.
