Sadly it's modded in NO way! Vauxhall actually made that car for a short while. I don't think it sold very well funnily enough.

I saw one the other day so had a look into it as I also wondered why someone would chop the roof off a Corsa

The person who thought that looked good must have been smoking crack. My mrs had one of those corsas (with a roof) and it was the worst car i have driven by far. I have driven some f**king dreadful cars but this 1.0 thing was the definition of s**t.

about every small car out there from the late 80s to late 90s had a hideous small production run drop top version available be that factory built or shipped off to some coach builder?

The Corsas were a Vauxhall made car, sold more in Europe but they 'brought' some over to the uk (100) and some people 'bought' them.

Their were some Nova convertibles also, based on saloons but they were converted by a specialist (Hutchinson) and sold by Vaux dealers.
They also made a factory Nova Spyder in limited numbers, by Irmscher IIRC
