If rumours are true then Overclockers will have single digit number of cards at launch. Retailers aren’t expecting it to be any better for the first 3 months either.

I’ll be keeping an eye on 4090 prices. I did originally plan a 50xx build to go with the new monitor, but I’m not spending 4-5k to play cod 😂😂😂 maybe if there were an abundance of great games to enjoy, but there isn’t.

There will definitely be a slew of 4080’s and 4090’s for sale as people try to get some money together in the hope of getting a new one.

Can confirm, they actually don’t know how many they’re being allocated yet 😬

If playing at 1440P anything less than a 9800X3D will see CPU throttling :ROFLMAO:

I need to get my trusty old 12700k replaced as it beginning to show its age, particularly in iRacing.

Tbf the current cards offer more than enough at 1440p. A 5090 is only really needed for high fps at 4k, even then it’s all down to the frame gen.

So about 20 years ago i built a pretty good PC, but that has long gone, looked into building another, but it seems to be far cheaper to just buy a built PC than build your own. Well anyway - i've just specced the following, Just as entry, will look at upgrading RAM and Processor eventually, but she'll do for GTA etc and games along those lines.

AMD Ryzen 5 4600G - 6-Core 3.70GHz, 4.2GHz Turbo - 8MB L3 Cache Processor w/ Radeon Graphics, Pro OC Compatible
MSI A520M-A PRO: M-ATX w/ 2 RAM Slots, USB 3.2, SATA3, 1x M.2
MSI GeForce RTX™ 4060 - 8GB GDDR6 - HDMI, DP - Real-Time Ray Tracing, NVIDIA DLSS 3 (Single Card)
Cooler Master Masterliquid 240L Core II ARGB AIO Liquid Cooler - Black, Ultimate OC Compatible
1TB Kingston NV3 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD - 6000MB/s Read & 4000MB/s Write
16GB (2x8GB) DDR4/3200MHz Kingston Fury Beast Memory
InWin B65E 650W 80+ Certified Gaming Power Supply

You won't be upgrading that much, the motherboard is AM4. You'll run the risk of bottlenecking GPU's as that's not even an amazing CPU for the last gen.

Get a AM5 based system, at least you will have the ability to upgrade to current CPU's and keep your options open for graphics upgrades.

And all of that is over my head 🫣 it'll do for now for the amount i will do on it etc, it'll do the now for current games etc i reckon and not be to bad, if it's really that bad i'll have a look at saving up. The whole set up there is less than £800, thats also including a tower. Mear chump change in the land of PC's and what is possible, but it'll do for now.

How about this? It's £600 but it's AM5

You could slap the same graphics card in it and be at £850, or hang on abit for the new generation of cards to come out and see what offers are about?

Can someone do me a favour? 🤣 Pop along to Scan on the 30th and join the queue for a 5090 ASUS ROG. The VERY limited number of cards will only be available for purchase in-store by those lucky (daft?) enough to be there on the day. Pre-orders are also limited to those who turn up. Well, that just sucks donkey balls. It could be several months before folks get their hands on the cards they want. Frustrating to say the least.

4090’s seem to be up for around the 1.5k price point on ebay atm… not worth it imo. Think I’m going to wait another generation to upgrade from my 3090.

What about the others? OCUK, Ebuyer, AWD-IT etc.

Is your 4090 causing you problems that you need the 5090 ASAP?

Well i have just pinged them an email, keep the same board but upgrade the cpu to a AMD Ryzen 7 5700X - 8 Core 3.4GHz / 4.66 GHz Turbo 32mb L3 Cache processor Pro OC Compatible - No onboard graphics but have the GPU for that

I'm not sure, fella. Rumours are that suppliers are seeing less than 20 units coming in on launch day in some cases! I can't say how true those rumours are, though. I also hear that there may be as little as a thousand units available UK wide at launch. I hope that's wrong.

Aren't OCUK doing a pre-order process? I think they were limiting sales to 1 card per person etc
