Not what HWU said. It’s on the same Nanometer process as 40 series.
Same process, different architecture.

There ain’t any uber high end competition tbf.If that’s the case then they’ve done an Intel when AMD were lagging behind in the CPU game.
Can confirm, they actually don’t know how many they’re being allocated yet 😬If rumours are true then Overclockers will have single digit number of cards at launch. Retailers aren’t expecting it to be any better for the first 3 months either.
If playing at 1440P anything less than a 9800X3D will see CPU throttlingIf rumours are true then Overclockers will have single digit number of cards at launch. Retailers aren’t expecting it to be any better for the first 3 months either.
Tbf the current cards offer more than enough at 1440p. A 5090 is only really needed for high fps at 4k, even then it’s all down to the frame gen.If playing at 1440P anything less than a 9800X3D will see CPU throttling
I need to get my trusty old 12700k replaced as it beginning to show its age, particularly in iRacing.
And all of that is over my head 🫣 it'll do for now for the amount i will do on it etc, it'll do the now for current games etc i reckon and not be to bad, if it's really that bad i'll have a look at saving up. The whole set up there is less than £800, thats also including a tower. Mear chump change in the land of PC's and what is possible, but it'll do for now.You won't be upgrading that much, the motherboard is AM4. You'll run the risk of bottlenecking GPU's as that's not even an amazing CPU for the last gen.
Get a AM5 based system, at least you will have the ability to upgrade to current CPU's and keep your options open for graphics upgrades.

Its already ordered up etc, thank you for the input etc tho much appreciated. it's def moved on alot since a faffed about with PC's way back when. How about this? It's £600 but it's AM5
You could slap the same graphics card in it and be at £850, or hang on abit for the new generation of cards to come out and see what offers are about?
It’s like Covid all over again.I've heard reports of a £3,099 and £2,999 5090 GPU incoming (partner card, of course)... 🤣 Time to remortgage.
Can someone do me a favour? 🤣 Pop along to Scan on the 30th and join the queue for a 5090 ASUS ROG. The VERY limited number of cards will only be available for purchase in-store by those lucky (daft?) enough to be there on the day. Pre-orders are also limited to those who turn up. Well, that just sucks donkey balls. It could be several months before folks get their hands on the cards they want. Frustrating to say the least.

Well i have just pinged them an email, keep the same board but upgrade the cpu to a AMD Ryzen 7 5700X - 8 Core 3.4GHz / 4.66 GHz Turbo 32mb L3 Cache processor Pro OC Compatible - No onboard graphics but have the GPU for thatYou won't be upgrading that much, the motherboard is AM4. Ideally, yes. 24GB RAM isn't enough really. And the extra CUDA cores will be really useful. Is your 4090 causing you problems that you need the 5090 ASAP?
I'm not sure, fella. Rumours are that suppliers are seeing less than 20 units coming in on launch day in some cases! I can't say how true those rumours are, though. I also hear that there may be as little as a thousand units available UK wide at launch. I hope that's wrong. What about the others? OCUK, Ebuyer, AWD-IT etc.
