The Story of R3.......(LOTS of pics)

  H22A7 Accord Type R

Ok, yea, i must be bored, but i actually enjoyed going through all the pics and thinking about the story, so bear with me............and enjoy lol....Rob....

Well, it all started with the test drive, then signing on the dotted line, and that was it, my very own, Brand new Silver clio 1.2 16v!! I was in heaven!! Loved the car, and after some net research, i found CLIOSPORT.NET!! Kelly informed me of a meet in Rochdale one weekend, about 3 years ago....so, there she made her first appearance, standard, apart from some modified door badges!....

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/rochdaleRob.jpg

So lovely and new ^^. Now, with it being the free insurance, mods were limited until i had my years no claims, then moved insurers. The first mod major change for her was some toyo tyres for the fronts when the time came, in 195/50 profile! i remember gettin them fitted!!! worrying about my immaculate alloys lol..........but on they went, to make the standard arch gap look even bigger

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/silver1.jpg

next up, the lexus light season kicked in!! the works christmas bonus was due in the bank, and eurocarparts had some for a bargain £100......awesome, i had to get me some of those (cringe lol)

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/cliopolish1.jpg

as time marched on, i could get more things happening to her, after i renewed with HIC insurance, and could modify the car more! Apex -40mm springs were ordered, used with the standard shockers, at last she was starting to look much better and corner less boat-like! As always, she was kept in as mint condition as i could manage.....

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/silver2.jpg

MMMMMInt ^Now, thanks to cliosport, i found a lot of good information for the car, and a company called K-tec racing!!!! I heard their cat back exhausts were pretty good sounding so though id have a go at that, and ordered a twin 3" system :D it ended up being my favourite mod on the car!

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/silver3.jpg

After this, it was time for the 2003 French car show!! A few of us got together through our local club, and had a little stand at the show - just a bit further down from Cliosports stand.....where, for the first time i seen Fredss car, and met Fred too, funilly enough! The rain was on and off that day....

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/fcs2003.jpg

After the show, the next thing she went in for was tints. I booked it in at Magma, up in West Lothian, Scotland. I knew they were good at what they do, so got it sorted one weekend i was up in my home town!! The car was then pretty much getting to how i wanted it!

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/tints.jpg

now, remember the Lexus lights??? (yummy)........i always fancied a set of the neater K-tec ones......but they were mega £££, until someone from the club was selling theirs!! so i managed to sell my ECP ones, and buy some k-tec ones instead.....cost me a tenner.....minter!!

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/DSCF0009.jpg

So, there she is.....just how i wanted her......i was happy to just look after her, and drive her with a smile on my face until the day that i would find it hard to hand over the keys to the new owner......i always wondered how i would manage to bring myself to sell her.............well........

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/DSCF0071.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/DSCF0072.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/DSCF0078.jpg

....thanks to some un-insured kids in a stolen car.....i was thumped into by an old ford escort, and left to pick up the pieces!! Stood at the side of the road staring at my well loved, cared for car, smashed up and knackered!! No worries about having to hand keys over now....... i thought that was the end, lost no claims, never be able to insure a decent car for the next few years!!

Had a scan about, decided to get insurance figures (still had 10 months left on my policy so could transfer a new car onto that), and i was looking at getting a new Dci 100......but, i thought, hmmm, £11000 ish, just for it to get smashed up....hmmmm! THEN.........i thought, wait a minute......a sound guy from this very club had this for sale!!......

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/newclio.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/newclio4.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/newclio2.jpg

The car was in Aberdeen........and after many many pictures, phone calls, e-mails etc......i sorted things out and set off at 4am one morning with my mate, heading for Aberdeen!! Met MK3COL......had a laugh, made some phonce calls.....and..........i had myself a new clio!!! :D

I got her back to Yorkshire, parked her up in the drive, and took my first pic of my new car...

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/new1.jpg

I can say this much, i dont think Col knew what polish was, but i couldnt wait to give her good going over and see how she came up!! i was so happy to be mobile again! New car had 17s, -60mm on Pi springs (watch this space) sideskirts (always wanted some for last car), roof spoiler, tints etc.....so, i was sorted!!! And, after a polish......

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/rearnew.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/lowfrontdrivers.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/DSCF0090.jpg

she was almost mine.......then once the number plates got sorted, we were dancing!!!

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/r3obc.jpg

So, life with the new clio!! it was mint......until some things started to bother me........i soon found out that Pi -60mm springs are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard!! show them a decent road and they will show you the nearest ditch!!! I had to think about what to change it for.......and knew the -40mm apex was good on my old car.....althought, the standard shocks on this one were gashed due to these Pis.....so, a full apex -40mm kit was ordered....(only apex kit out at the time)......thanks to Brun for helping me with this one........

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/apexkit.jpg

The drive and handling was amazing!!! i can not stress enough how much of a difference having matched shortened shockers makes!!! Brilliant......now, with the 17s, it didnt look bad......(Fred called it a rollerskate)

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/40mmschool.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/40mmschool2.jpg

So, i was a very happy chappy!! and enjoyed many good trips to the north of scotland to throw the car about, now that it actually handled

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/killin.jpg

So, all is good.........well, no.......i started to grow out of the Spoiler look......it kind of gave an image that i was starting to realise, wasnt me!! so, hmmm, what to do.......AJR was after a koncept spoiler, and i fancied a Cup one......so, sorted, i made it happen!! (again, something i THOUGHT about doing to the silver car)

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/cup.jpg

Cool.............love it!! Subtle and smart!! Only for Apex to decide they are doing a -60mm kit now!!! Arse!! Everyone was going -60mm apex....and my 17s were making my car float in the clouds.....so, one night, drunk, 1am, credit card, http://www.motorsportworld.co.ukwww.motorsportworld.co.uk....... -60mm springs ordered! (knew they would be better than Pi) Only one way to find out........

back to -60mm

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/60apex.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/60apex2.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/springs.jpg

^^ LOL!!!

Next? well, i always seem to mess about with door badges, and, after some ebay scanning, we found some carbon fibre weave, and decided to do some laminating........came out not too bad

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/badge4.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/badgeoncar.jpg

Cool Cool!!! So, this just left me with one more thought...........that Remus, twin exit exhaust system!! It was quiet, restrictive......hmmmmm, what to do??? I know, k-tec lol!!!!! so, my second twin 3" cat back was ordered!!! Fun and games for a weekend.........

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/remusremove1.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/k-tec.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/cliorob/ktecnew.jpg

And..............there she is..........someone once said to me on here that i should do something to the car, otherwise i would just be wearing MK3COLs identity.....well, think i done a few things lol!!!! Col wasnt too happy with most of it, but......hey, he got my money, and i know he still likes the car deep down, eh mate?? ;)

So, here i am, a week away from the French car show, 2005...........last year i was booked for the stand......to have my car written off that week!!! I have polished her up today, and am really looking forward to having my car on a cliosport stand for the first time ever!!!!! See you all there guys n girls, thanks for reading, hope it provided u with at least some entertainment.....my fingers hurt from typing lol!!!

I think now Gee has left the clio scene youre car has to be one of the nicest 1.2s on the site! Now youve had it for a while its looking really nice. Im not to keen on the wheels or number plates but that down to personal taste I suppose.

I reckon a 172 grill and some colour coding next.:)

Thats such a great story, must have taken you ages to type all that out with the pics!

It was a real labour of love - and quite shocking to see the first car smashed up.

All good Rob!
A lot of effort, time, money and dedication put into both cars - well worth it too!
You could spend it on worse!

Colour-code her, get an MS-design grill and a set of smoked repeaters ;)

Cant wait to get the remus put on! :devilish:
