The White ph1 172 track car. Epic content!

Well as many of you will know i was nearing completion on my 172 cup track car, but there was still a list of jobs as long as my arm to do. So after seeing this car on here many times when RS Tuning owned it, when DannyR broke it and when Richardo re built it i loved it and with my ITB's on it would be complete So as soon as Rich put the add up and asking for px for a 172 cup i was on the phone, but wanting to keep my ITB's it worked out to much hassle to swap, so i left it.

Then a few weeks ago i saw Rich put his cup up for sale as the ph1 hadn't sold, i got the note pad out and worked out what i could get from breaking my 172 and it worked out i could buy the ph1 and not be to much down on the dollar! So i PM'd Rich a silly offer which he rejected as expected, but we met in a happy middle

So earlier on today i got the train down to Rayleigh to collect the car, Rich was a top bloke, picked me up from train station, took me to the bank and the post office and by 10:30 i was heading back to Norfolk.

Rich also said he had a magazine that the car was featured in that he meant to give me, would be good to keep with the car.

Totally love the car, suspension is set a bit to stiff at the moment so will have a tinker with that at some point, other than that i'm very happy, goes well for a standard engine too.

So got home around lunch time, had some food then cracked on with stripping down the 172 Cup & the White ph1. Got the majority of the Cup engine bay stripped down ready for breaking and for ITB's and exhaust to go onto the ph1, only got round to getting Inlet Plenum off the ph1 and front bumper, started getting dark after that.

Got DannyR coming round tomorrow to help with getting the ITB's fitted, Omex spliced into loom, and fitting my Oreca Group N exhaust with 182 manifold.

Also averaged 53mpg coming home with some occasional spirited driving too

Well I've said enough now, here are the pictures, looking forward to cleaning the car as it really needs it right now!

Believe me when i say it was a struggle knowing it was going, but i know it's gone to a good home and know with the parts Lewis is fitting it will finish the car off spec wise.

I absolutely loved building it, driving it on the Nurburgring, owning it. I have my reasons for selling.

Was actually getting 56mpg to start with when i was taking it really easy lol was still doing 70mph tho

I can totally understand, it's actually really hard for me knowing i'll never drive my Cup again as i do love that car.

Thanks mate, think your's would look epic with a white wrap as it would be black/white on insides of doors/engine bay good contrast. Not to mention all the carbon!

In one, it works out cheaper to put my goodies on this than cage up the cup!

Had a major busy day today with the help of DannyR, stripped most of the cup down now, engine and gearbox is now out, exhaust off, wheels and suspension. Got bits everywhere! ITB's & rad now fitted to the ph1, not quite running yet loom is spliced in now, although one of the omex wires has come out of the plug so need to look at that! It's also overfuelling really badly, i'm thinking this may be to do with the ph1 fuel pump as it has an in and out, so gonna swap it for the one off the cup. Also need to check my TPS too. Didn't get many pictures had to much to do and not enough time.

After the wash, ready to work on

Not alot left on it now...

Hopefully have Oreca, 182 manifold, Whiteline arb, 15mm rear spacers, studs, 2118's oh and have it running properly by next weekend

As soon as I have changed my tyres, got myself a whiteline and sorted out my top mounts which I am having a few issues with atm, I will be up for a trackday so would be good to join you maybe on your first outing with it.

I have managed to sort one of them out with abit of accurate filing but have now ordered a new UFO shaped collar thing that sits on the spring top hat as they do not sit flat against the spring top hat?! A bit confusing I know but sooo irritating as so far my dampers and top mounts have been on and off 4 times

Oh right i see, does sound confusing, i thought the idea of solid top mounts is that.. they are solid i.e. don't rattle lol so not good mate, fingers crossed that solves it.

Nope got k-tec top mounts, really isn't worth the hassle of swapping it all over, plus the pure kit is worth more to sell on
