The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (PC, XBOX ONE, PS4)

It's not just loot from enemies, seems to be all X interactions (not sure what that is on Xbox, A maybe?) Like igniting flames, or getting on the horse, you always have to get into certain positions/angles - fast travel posts too.

I'm starting to get used to it now and progressing better.

Lots of talk on other websites about toning down the camera sensitivity to 0.8 or 0.75 to improve "jerkiness" on all platforms, apparently it makes a real difference. Just in-case it helps anyone.

There's even a few posts on NeoGAF that say turning all the controller sensitivity options to 0.75 helps with some of the "either creeping or Usain Bolting, no in-between" issues people have been talking about. This includes collecting items and looting from bodies.

f**k sake, I've got a pretty serious bug - the player just keeps jumping continuously, apparently others have had it happen to - there's no way to stop it...

EDIT: Found a way, if it happens to you, you need to button mash jump (O on PS4) until it stops.

The archers are getting on my tits, 100% f**king cheese, their arrows go through trees or walls, and they get you out of nowhere from ridiculous distances, if you're trying to take out a large group of bandits they proper f**k you.

Struggling with the golem. Have a fraction of health left in my health bar and no food etc so every time he kills me (1 hit) i respawn again with the same amount of health.

All about using signs, the sign that gives you a shield is so overpowered in this game, I instantly put it to +3, means you can get a few hits in and if you get parried you take no damage.

Also, dodge round it, then when the caster girl hits it with a spell then you can get a few hits in, gotta be patient though, don't get greedy.

Just tried the shield method, never used it before. Think I'll stick with that. I am not going offline until I kill the b*stard

I'm guessing the shield lasts for a couple of seconds? As I've been testing it and even when I have the glow surrounding me I can still be killed, but can't be killed immediately after using it.

It works a treat, the enemies in this game are much less aggressive than Dark Souls for example, so you get time to use signs, stamina replenishment is very quick, and if you dodge rather than roll, you don't use stamina, so it's just a case of either dodging round or putting distance between you and the enemy, then use the shield, then head back in when there's an opening, once you take a hit and lose shield, get out again, most of the time your stamina will already be full again to get shield straight back, if not, just dodge a few times and it will be back quickly, and repeat.

I'm level 8 I think, and the first things I did were quick attack to 5/5, the sign that gives you mind control to 3/3 and the shield to 3/3. I also got the Serpentine Silver Sword which you should get if you don't have already, you get it really early game.

I seriously think time goes past 10 times quicker when you play this game. Ah 12.30, I'll just finish this quest then go to bed.

Oh, 4am.

Almost level 7 now, got my shield sign up to 3/3 just not sure what to upgrade next. Struggling for money too, seem to waste it mostly on food and water, my armour is battered.

Still haven't really touched on the alchemy side of things yet, didn't really bother with it in skyrim either but I'll give it a go in this game.

I'm in the same boat, no money as it always goes on food and repairs. I have quick attack at 5/5 and it's stronger than strong attack now. Upgrading Quen is useful as well, saved my arse a few times.

Found out last night that it's SO easy to wipe out large groups of bandits, by staying on the horse. If you hold down X (Xbox) to attack, then it slows time down when you are charging an enemy. Now I'm finally enjoying my self going round the country side wiping out these bandits and stealing all their treasure.

There's an ability point you can spend which means you regenerate health out of combat meaning you don't need to focus so much on food and drink. It's called Sun and Stars, IIRC.

I'm finding the opposite in terms of coin, I've got loads (over 6000) and there's little to buy with it. I'm always looting and selling it to shopkeepers. I never need to use food because I have the ability Scutch just mentioned, and also if you brewed the Swallow potion to save the girl early on then you should have that, it restores health, and you get 3/3 which replenishes when you meditate.

The main problem I'm having now is that shopkeepers don't have enough coin to buy my items from me.

Also, I've got like 5 points I could put into my character, but I don't actually know what to do with them, with maxed out quick attack, maxed out shield and maxed out mind control, all the other skills don't seem anywhere near as powerful, even when you unlock more tiers, still not much special.

Getting quite far through this now, an observation...

Why do developers seem so keen to get games out as soon as possible? Do they not give the game to groups first who can test it? There's no major bugs in this game, but there's lots and lots of annoying little bugs, even just in a normal playthrough...

You can't get on the horse if you're holding down any button other than X, I've had a fight where the enemies body was visible on the floor, but the enemy was actually invisible and up fighting, and I had to fight an invisible bloke until I managed to hit him enough times to kill him. I've had more and more lag, where I approach a player that I'm supposed to talk to, and the option to press X to talk doesn't come up for about 5 seconds, I've had an enemy who was invicible when I was helping Triss, I had to wait for her to kill him because I couldn't do damage. I also got stuck on a boat searching for treasure that there is no way off of because you can't jump when you're in water, so there was no way to get over the wood blocking the exit. The mini-map, when you fast travel is often black for about 5 seconds while it tries to catch up. Also, the paths it gives you sometimes get messed up, telling you to take routes through walls. Lots of things don't show up on the main map, merchants for example.

Just lots of annoying niggly things that overall as I continue to play through are taking away from the experience, I know it's what you get as an early bird, but people complained heavily about the bugs in Bloodborne, and I've found that to be far far less buggy than this (I also had Bloodborne from day 1).

It's lots of little things that I imagine are an easy fix if they just had focus groups to play the game first? Like a thousand people for each platform.

The 'loot' action is pretty annoying, same goes for mounting roach, oo err. Actually, I'm pretty sure it's the norm for most X (PS4) functions.

There will be a patch pretty soon I would imagine, but overall I think it is awesome. Although at times I wish there were a little more freedom in the game. I understand it's a huge game, but not being allowed to hit or kill someone in a village? Limits things a bit.

This could change as the storyline develops but I doubt it. In Skyrim I loved being sneaky and having to plan your loots. In this you can pretty much do whatever you want, when not in sight of guards. Which is pretty often.

I guess there are just little finishing touches, considering the amount of time and effort that has clearly gone into the scenery, using the same face for a few different NCPs (thinking mainly of the chubby looking bloke) seems a bit lazy. Also, when you're on roach, you can't go through gates, but you can get off, walk through it, then call him and he'll walk through the closed gate.

No bugs here yet either. Think I've completed all the side quests and hunts in White Orchard now.

Turns out that Noonwraith was indeed a c**t. Did it first time but it took ages! The level 7 wraith outside of the Cemetary was easier. I just roll and strike. Seems to work well. Need to master parry and dodge though.

Got the Silver Serpentine sword crafted too. 125 damage. Trickiest/most frustrating part was finding or paying for the emerald dust required to make it. That stuff ain't cheap.

Trap the noonwraith (or any wraith tbh) in the trap spell (just lure it through it) then beat the f**k out of it

Moonwraith's are the most annoying enemy, the first ones aren't too bad, but later on there's a contract on Jenny o' the Woods, and she has much more health and restores her health while she summons three more Moonwraiths.

Found most boss fights in this game far too easy though, don't think I've died in any other than Jenny o' the Woods, it's so easy to just take a few hits, get out, wait, get a few hits... all the bosses follow the same sort of pattern, and they don't really chase you when you put distance between. Maybe I'm just too used to the difficulty of Souls games.

After finally defeating everyone in the 'count reuven's treasure' mission, Triss has decided to just stand there and not move, when I'm supposed to be following her. Took me ages to get to this stage too.

I need to slow down with the main quest I think, the enemies I'm facing now are level 16 and I'm only level 11, lol. Loving it!

Geralt is such a playa!

I'm Level 4. Only really played over the weekend but done everything in White Orchard other than played a game of Gwent. Just travelled to Vizima (I think).

Haven't really struggled too much - with the more powerful enemies it's simply a case of going in, using Quen a lot, few strikes, then backing off/rolling/dodge and repeat process. Took out the level 7 wraith outside the cemetery quite easily using this tactic, and then inside the crypt too. One of the most difficult battles was at a Place of Power fighting a bear. Oh and the Noonwraith (Devil o the Well) as I only used the Spectre Oil once, didn't use any traps or any bombs (those are her 3 weaknesses). So that took a while!

I've also got both the Viper steel sword and the Viper silver sword, crafted from diagrams. Had to buy some Emerald Dust for one of them and that wasn't cheap, but got lucky with the other as a wraith dropped some

I've got 5/5 quick attack, 1/1 Sun and Stars perk (health regenerates out of combat), 2/3 Axii and 2/3 Quen.

I think White Orchard is basically to get you up and running, so not many location pins on the map. The next area is huge in comparison and the map is literally filled with things to do.

Been excellent so far.

Another bug, and this one is a show stopper.

Geralt now doesn't grab ledges, he just jumps and kicks forward - quite a few people reporting this bug on the cdprojektred forums, but little feedback from staff.

I can't continue with the game until this is fixed.

What is a really good game is being ruined for me by problem after problem.

Are you on PS4? I'm on XBO and haven't experienced any bugs yet, I'm at level 17 or so now as well so have put a bit of time in.

  UR R26R.5, VW Golf R
Yeah, I'm on PS4.

This latest bug seems to have come from completing the contract "The Creature from the Oxenfurt Forest".

Sure they'll patch that soon enough. I think there's 2 DLC released this week, as well.

I never picked up that crystal skull.

I made a few mistakes tbh, I killed Keira, so I can't get full crew at Kaer Morhan, but I'm not too bothered about mistakes as a result of my choice - It's more bugs that are out of my hands.

Did you not have the White Orchard bug with the little altar abandoned site? That's the only bit I couldn't clear in WO because no enemies ever spawned there, apparently there's supposed to be some ghouls. A lot of people have reported the same bug.

The annoying thing about the bug I got from Oxenfurt Forest creature is it is a contract recommended for level 35, and I did it at level 24, felt good doing it, and now it's fucked up my game. :(

I'm not sure what this one is? The alter I recall from my game was near the cemetery and there was a Wraith protecting it. I banished the Wraith by hitting it enough time and got into the crypt to take the treasure, and then had to finish the Wraith off who reappeared. There was a Place of Power directly outside the crypt.

Nah, that's the chapel.

I'm talking about this place:

Behind there is a bear guarding another Place of Power.

Shrine would've been a better word.

I am not sure what to do here either, I've killed the bear and used the shrine further in the woods??
