Theoretical HDD question...

I've got myself an External HDD in theory could I...

...Install Counter Strike Source and the Edit: Steam software and run it off that?

then could I plug it in and play on other computers?

Will it work, would it be slow and jumpy?

Nah, it's use Windows registry stuff so it'd need to be installed on each PC - you could install to hdd, but you'd have to reinstall it on the machines you wanna play it on also.

Not sure, its worth a try.

As far as im aware if you run the cs source exe it should work without it needing to be installed.

I aquired a copy of that Ragdoll kung fu and just extracted it to the HDD without installing it and it ran fine.

One thing that wont work is Steam

Anything which uses Windows registry won't work right..

Dunno if CS does or not.. most apps do..

True, however upon running some exe files new information is written to the registry
