I've wanted for a while to go around the house looking for draughts and areas than need insulating. Octopus energy used to loan the cameras out but every time i check the scheme is full booked (they probably only have one camera ).
@MLB what is the one you've got like for detecting cold spots around doors/windows etc. They are around £100 from hire for the day but if that one is £120 I think I'd rather just buy one then sell it when I'm done with it.
I had a high res flir t600 thermal imaging camera a few years ago in my old job. 20k new for 480 × 360 res. Done the training/qualified thermographer with a view to doing it but changed jobs and never used one in anger since.
One thing i know - lower priced = low resolution and they are pretty s**t, high resolution are expensive af sadly. Get the highest resolution you can afford. From a quick look anything decent is still mega money.
Reflections skew the temp readings massively from memory, easy to misinterpret what its showing. Good for underfloor heating etc. For cold spots, you can see it but that doesnt mean easy to rectify.
