These allright for welding?

Hi just bushed a spare set of wishbones.
For all the experts out there...
Are the allright for welding?

Fully fit the bushes then offer it up to your subframe. Make sure the sleeves are as close to the subframe as possible as thats what supports the bushes and stops the wishbone moving front to rear. Remove then weld.

I welded mine 20mm left 10mm then another 20mm all the way round to try cut down on any flexing of the sleeve.

drat I was hoping to prepare these and then fit them to the car, wanted to have them powdercoated first.
Oh well...looks like it will be a slightly bigger job than I thought.

You can do it the way you want, your putting trust in the bushes being perfect dimensions which I wouldn't put past powerflex to be wrong with their track record.

Take a few measurements of the subframe and the arms then you will know for sure, you can then have them powder coated with no worries

ok thanks, i'll measure gaps next time it is up in the air.
gaps between the mounts, and between the mounting points I guess?

Depends on how you use them, i hzave seen ones used on trackdays gone all deformed....but usually that is diwn tko bad fitting i guess.
Just keep swede's advice jn mind i guess.

Some people have had issues with the sleeve moving and wrecking the actual bush i think?
The new ones dont need welding supposedly its a different design how old are yours do you know if there the old/ new type?
You could allways just pop your head under and have a look for some tack welds? Mine are quite visible when i have a look?

Spoke to the guy that fitted them for me, he said he didn't weld anything.... they are about 6 months old and bought brand new, so perhaps it's not required

There is three styles that I have seen now, a set that I have with a parallel sleeve (purple) that definitely needs placed correctly and welded, the set pictured above that have a flanged section on them that locates them better, again I would recomend welding as its just paper thin metal and then the new black style that have a housing more than a sleeve, they are pressed in from the outside iirc and are held in place by a lip on the housing so a lot more sturdier, yet again I would still recomend maybe 3 small tacks to hold in place tbh.

Any friendly local garage will pop a few tacks on them for you, probably charge you nothing for it and you won't have that thought in your mind about them moving.

Wrong picture then, I seen a set the other day in a recent thread. Powerflex also made the old style sleeve thicker at one point, Cupman or Kenny had problems iirc.
