These arrived yesterday :)

These arrived yesterday :) HiSpec 4 pots

After my brakes suffering major fade at the ring, and being used to 4pots i had on the punto, i decided to take the plunge and get some for the clio.

Got to make sure i can stop before starting to fettle with the engine :)

Very nice brakes, but i think i have read you can get better quality 4 pots for the cost of the high spec ones.

But i am no expert on these so that could be bs lol

What brake set up did you have before these?
also how much monies were involved in these?

noice, bit much for me tbh just on brakes!! lol

Can you actually spend 'too much' on brakes? It's like tyres: why do some people go for the cheaper option?

Becaue for my Driving style and limited number of track days, means decent pads/discs and braided hoses would be fine. i wouldnt skimp and buy any old pap. horses for......

btw do you have these fitted on your Trophy?

Ive got the equivalent 4 pots on my Williams and I wouldn't overly recomend them. When I got them I was expecting to go through the windscreen with a firm jab of the brakes but they aren't really like that. Sure they never fade but the overall actual strength is not massivley more than a properly working standard set-up. Do look great behind the wheels though.

Same as the 300mm wilwoods i had. They wouldnt throw you forward anymore than standard ones when stomping on. But as you say, they never once faided under hard braking on the track etc and thats what i want :):)

Yeh, I think my critisicm may be more about my naivety of the product rather than its actual performance. After seeing so many people rave about 4 pots I really did think that they were going to be "amazing". In the future I will be all to aware that unless you really are tracking a car 4 pots on a car like a small light weight hot hatch is just not required.

Hi Spec aren't supposed to be that good though are they? I've heard bad things,

Shame cause they look awesome.

Does anyone do Brembo's or AP 4 pots for the CS?

When I was buying mine I spent a bit of time looking around and like most myth's these rumours of performance failed to surface. Just like the mark 1 "reliability" issues which constantly scour this site, sure people said they were "poor" but there were no stated reviews saying that they were s**t. My disappointment I think was really due to the anticipated performance I was going to gain. When really 4 pots on a car weighing 950kg which isn't tracked was a mistake.

I am sure you can get any 4 pot you want but if you want Brembo or AP you are significantly increasing your budget. From my experience Wilwoods were the cheapest followed by HiSpec. The advantage with HiSpec is they do fabricated kits which fit straight on whereas Wilwoods you had to use universal fittings. As they say you get what you pay for but spending £1,500 for Brembo's was ridiculous - and for that premium I would bloody hope they are another step up.

Completely agree. 4pots come into there own when your hammering it round a track, my wilwoods were shocking through the town!!!

And for £700 i dont think i can complain, as said double the price and i dont think i would of considered them.

We shall see when they are fitted, but i was happy with the performance of them in the saxo, very comparable to the wilwoods, keep the heat in and they are awesome. Cold they are shite!!
