Think my engine is overheating!

Just had a quick look at the cooling fluid bottle, and the level is getting suspiciously close to the minimum level, but my 1.2 16v has only done 4k miles.. very odd. Dont think the water temperature goes above normal (1/2 way up the gauge), is this normal and should I just top it up or do I need a trip to the brakers (aka Renault Croydon)

do any of the joints on any water piped look furred up?? maybe you have a small leak?
