I've recently aquired a monaco 172 ph2. I know its not worth a lot of money, like £2500 absolute tops.

If I break it, what sort of return am I looking at for selling it all in bits?

Cheers.

Nothing wrong with it at all mate. Drives perfect. Its just old!

Done 118k, It needs wheels refurbing, drivers seat base has a rip and the headlights are faded yellow. Apart from that, really nice car.

Try shift it as it is

Breaking is more hassle than its worth you get so many timewasters and left over bits that carry no real value same as you always get people asking for tiny bits of parts rather than whole units. Do you have any links with local breakers yards mate? might be a way of off loading some of the s**t as a job lot for cash.

Gear Box - £300
Engine - £450-£650? but has done 118k so hard to say
wheels - £100 depending on tyres?
Interior - £250 odd as the must look abit old?
Headlights - £100?
Body kit and grill - £400?

Takes you up to £1600 providing you get good prices on the above

then you have to make £1000 on running gear brakes and little bits and bobs before trying to offload the shell

think you will find it more hassle than its worth if there is no reason to break it mate

Also factor in your labour costs for stripping it and the phone/time it takes to reply to stuff

you have to be really careful with the cash comming in aswell else it just gets pissed away in £20 and £30s over 5months of strip and sell and your left with like a grand anyway

surely the car dnt owe you alot anyway dan?

Need Fred to clear up prices on engines 100%

My mate brought a gear box for 350 but was a low milleage one from a breaker
wheels and that sell all the time in the for sale standard 172 ones rarely fetch amazing prices
same as bumpers etc they will proberly go to a rep builder or spairs and repairs i brought both front and rear bumpers when i did my rep for £200

sounds decent, sell it on whole u clown, milage dont matter if its got new parts, they'll be a buyer for it somewhere!

eitherway please sell bloooor the bonnet as his is s**t

Get a new seat base and you'll be away IMO mate.

I have a drivers one spare, but it has two very small burns in it, would look better than a massive rip though.

I think those prices are slightly optomistic aswell, and even then they dont reach a great price. When i got rid of the Megane i sold it off cheap because i knew how much a pain in the arse it would be, stripping, posting, taking orders, people on your back. Its just easier to sell the thing on and let someone else worrie about it. Just my opinion anyway :)

I wouldn't bother. Fix it up and sell it.

You said the other day about how many time wasters you get. Not worth the hassle, especially for a car that's sellable!

surely with that kind of mileage it'll struggle to fetch £2k as it is? clearly i dont know what service history the car comes with...

Worth about £2k given the condition and mileage, if it had around 85-90k on it would be worth tops £2.5k

If you decide to split I'll take the rear bench

LET THE MONACO LIVE!!!

Ive got a Monaco Blue PH2 172 with 50k and a few tasteful mods I wouldnt dream of selling for less than £2.5k and if I was you as long as its looked after I'd expect at least £2150 for yours, market it properly take good pictures and i promise youll sell.

By any chance is yours on ebay and pistonheads at moment, in herts?

Thankfully my customers don't browse pistonheads or cliosport, So I will probably sell it to someone normal.

Someone who hasn't done their homework you mean Dan? i suppose the buyers you get being a Trader are different to that of a private seller as i know my Dad only ever buys from a Dealer.
