Thinking of Buying a 172 Exclusive # No 1 of 172

Im hoping to buy a 172 exclusive this week sometime.

It is number 1 of 172

First 1 ever made.

Sitting on 80k and has Full Service History, All belts changed, Brake Fluid & Anti Freeze change etc. i will be the 4th owner

Has the Standard OZ Alloys & has the Ph2 172 Wheels on it just now.

How much are these cars worth are they collectable/desired models?

Any feedback much apreciated

No more than a normal one, plus the interiors gash. However the orginal wheels arent OZ, dunno if its just the current owner a bit confused.

Sounds like a good investment mate. I'd say £2500 in todays market.

The interior is gash yes but no ph1 interior is very nice tbh.

Thats what im thinking car is pretty mint apart from the odd stonechip.

Should at least get what i paid for it in a couple of months?

cant do it any harm being no.1, bit different 80k isn't high for these engines but I bought a mk2 phase 2 172 on 56k for under £3500 so I'd be looking to pay as close to £2500 as you can for it.

I would spend a little more and get a newer one, my ph1 has only turned 68k and i ve spent a small fortune on it and it still wants things doing, wish I'd just spent more and got a newer one.

Think its the wrong attitude to have to see a car as an investment tbh, unless your someone who buys battered cars, does them up and sells them on its not really an investable item imo and its not the point of the car, its to be enjoyed.

The only Clio's that'll demand a premium are the 182 Trophy and the 197 R27. A car is only worth what people are willing to pay. The 172 is way off the popularity radar, most people haven't even heard of it.

If I were looking for a phase 1 it'd have to be silver, immaculate and with the original OZ wheels. That's the combination that's best imo. Ph2 172 has to be a Cup. 182 should be racing blue with no stripes and the cup packs or a trophy. 197 should be a liquid yellow R27. The 200 will probably be best in Alien Green with recaros and cup suspension.

Of course everyone has different preferences/choices. Just trying to illustrate why I wouldn't offer any more for an exclusive.
