Thinking of doing my ball joints myself.

  Audi A3
My offside drivers ball joint has gone so I'm going to give it a go over the weekend. I understand it's a 12mm I need and also they're about £15 each.
Couple if questions if I may,
Is it best to do them both at the same time?
Will I need the tracking done afterwards?
Is it a tough job, how long roughly?

Cheers chaps

1. Just do the side that needs doing IMO.
2. Yes more than likely you'll need it doing
3. Depends how stuck your existing balljoint its. The bolts were fucked on mine so took ages. Give yourself a full afternoon to be on the safeside.

Make sure you know what you are doing. You'll also require a ball joint puller.

Change both.
Shouldn´t need tracking if the geometry was set up on a working balljoint.
Bolts that hold the joint to the hub can be a b**ch due to rust, but otherwise straight forward.
Time needed depends on your mechanical skills. I´d say 0.5-2h.

No balljoint puller needed, you only need to widen the hub clamp with chisel and hammer.
