This will make you all smile

Right well as some of you know I had a new engine dropped in my 182. I would have done it myself

1. I dont have the tools and
2. I need the car 1 one piece working etc..

Anyway thats not important what will make you smile is the fact that when I got the car back there was the following problems

1. He had overfilled the oil by about a litre.
2. Coolant wasnt filled enough, overheated on my very short drive home (ovi forgot to run the car to open the thermostat)
3. Gearbox only had about 2 litres of fluid in it.
4. PS fluid was overfilled.

And as if that wasnt enough the bonnet seals not there. To be far I only paid £250 for the lot which is bloody good, But you dont expect someone who has been doing this all his life (20 years or so) to screw all that up.

Luckily for me Im pretty good with cars and it was my intention to change all the fluids when I got it back anyway. I changed the coolant + Gear oil sorted out the engine oil and various other bits and bobs.

I'm going to see him on monday mainly because I want my seal back but I will have a word.

My advice to everyone is dont trust back street garages or learn to do the work yourself. I'm seriously worried this engines gunna just drop out or something!!

I would have been mighty pissed if I was an idiot and didnt check these things though!

Any other work that needs doing I'll do myself thankyou.

Anyway hope this wasnt a waste of 60 seconds of your life.

Didn't realise you had so many issues! Who recommended you this guy again. Enough said lol! To be fair he was probably pissed off that it took alot longer than anticipated to do the work so rushed abit, did you get a receipt or was it cash in hand?
Tbh your MOT is soon I guess so at least then they will check it over, I can't be arsed to text you back but I will see you a week on Friday.

No probs mate, Yeah cash In hand he also pointed out that if he did that job again he would charge alot more. Still no excuse for being a doofus if you ask me but hey, like I said just as well I'm on the ball really

Oh and also I got the old engine which Im gunna strip into pieces so ill ahve a load of stuff for sale cheap. I'm undecided wheather to strip it and repair or just sell the block broken yet though.

Does seem abit slack, hopefully there is nothing more serious he has missed out as all of those things mentioned are easily rectifiable issues.

Reference the old block you could make a quick buck breaking it for bits now. Alternatively you could sell it broken, again for a good price. Or alternatively if your not too skint I reckon it would be fun to take it apart as a project over the winter and replace the rings, then sell it on repaired.

  2002 172
did he put all 4 spark plugs in lol.

on a serious note, to me thats not good enough regardless of how cheap it was etc it should still be fitted correctly maintaining the correct fluid levels are achieved etc.

cash in hand or no cash in hand id be going back to see him and making my voice heard. word of mouth can make or break a business...
