Throttle boddies - question to all you tuning companies

I've got a 172Cup, I'm thinking of getting throttle boddies fitted.... how much will the "all in" cost be please? that's the total cost of buying them, fitting them and any other things that need to be bought and fitted with them to get them running right.

also, how long will you need the car for?

thanks

Clio 172/182/Trophy Throttle Body Conversion

£3,750.60 inc. VAT

This kit will unleash the power of the F4R Clio engine

Kit fitted includes

4 Jenvey Throttle bodies and trumpets
Jenvey Manifold
Throttle linkage kit
Jenvey air box and Filter
Omex 600 ECU
Manifolds matched to increase airflow
Fitting to the car at our workshop
Omex semi assembled loom, integrated into the car

BHP does not tell the whole storey with these kits, power delivery is totally different, much more agressive and immediate. Impressive throttle response and a fantastic sound all make this a very exciting kit to own..... you certainly get noticed with it...!

For cars with air con further modification is needed to fit these properally.

other companies to look at

yozzasport - the first company in the uk to do a TB'd F4R (roamer was the first private individual who paid Jenvey to develop the kit)
tourque of the devil - the first uk company to map a TB F4R (power engineering at the time)
APD - welsh chap who knows what he's doing
AWT - ben knows his s**t, will bafffle you with knowledge, but its all bang on

LAD - run

Grey Devil Industries are also the muts nuts at TB kits for clio's, as they have helped a fair few people with kits aswell as helping other companies.

never said they weren't, but there are others to look at

its not hard to bolt throttle bodies on to a clio afterall!

i'm surprised more people don't do it DIY

  E46 M3, x2 GTT, RS250
I've seen it done DIY and would not have a problem doing it myself.I think the only part you would need help with would be the live map.

  E46 M3, x2 GTT, RS250
loads of places that can do that, loads of different ecu's to choose from too

Thats the only bit i would not do myself, although i would not need to as a guy down the road runs three Hyundai wrc cars. What do you think of pectal?

  LY 182
has nobody explored the possibilities of something like weber marrelli from the 4wd cosworths etc - so much can be done with that ecu you could drive pretty much anything with it

  LY 182
i thought cosworths had pectel?
nope, pectel make what started out as a diy mapping/monitering program for the 2wd which over the years became pretty big - they also make a modification for said ecu from the 4wd to allow live mapping.
both of which weber marreli, and of course the rs turbos run the eec iv ford management

urgh eeciv its utter shite imo.

APD will be doing my mapping for my car. he is s**t hot. And like Ben said, if he wasnt able to build an engine for any reason he would get craig to, so that shows how good they both are IMO.

The eec iv is poo but the weber marreli is ok with a pectal board, people have done alot with these ecu's and its a shame there is not the same amount of intrest in the renault stuff. One company is doing anti-lag and launch control on your standard L8 or P8.

yeah, i forget who are developing it but its capable of controlling air injectors, water injection, antilag, launch/traction control etc etc.
im sure something could be done with it

I have been thinking about a turbo conversion for the f7r and at the beginning thought about raiding the cosworth parts bin. I've not looked in to it with alot of detail but with the use of the cosworth throttle body and the other sensors i think it could be done. The weber marelli ecu is used on all sorts of ford stuff, zetec cvh turbo.I know that i have heard of people suffering from sealing issues where the head gasket is concerned but could you not over come this problem by wire ringing the block.

I dropped my car off to Andy @ GDI on Saturday and Andy told me that he is using another company for better TB's, not sure what the company was called, but have a word with him and tell him I sent you.

Mark

P.S GDI come very highly recommended by myself and many others

Thanks for the answers folks, I've already got matched inlets from Ben

How long would TB's take to fit? how long would any tuning companies need the car for?

thanks chaps

  Lionel Richie
to physically fit the hardware i would say 2days, its the shitty jobs of wiring and then mapping

realistically at least a week

he does! and they look amazing!

Beleive he is promoting them at Autosport show too!

I live up in scotland, so would have to drive down and leave the car with them....i don't mind hiring a car for a week, i'd just need some idea of how long i'd be hiring for that's all

cheers

you going for throttle bodies fmp? before you do just check the noise regulations for time attack

throttle bodies + F4R = over 98db

  Clio v6
Rules:

3-5. Vehicles must retain an exhaust system, complete with a silencer and must pass a static 105db noise test 2/3rd
rpm or the noise level applicable for the track being used if this is lower.

3-6. Vehicles must have optional noise bungs which can be securely installed to comply with additional noise restrictions at each venue.

That counts me out then. :)

where in scotland are you from suppards?
If you want to see what difference ITBs make come along to a meet and il take you out in my car, it was done by GDI
