Thumb Grip... Attempted Self Replacement

  Leon FR - Clio Sold.
Basically my old one was shagged, like the majority and it was annoying.

I had a go at moulding Loctite Putty round the place of the old one. Leaving for a couple of hours until it was solid and then sanded and covered it in carbon wrap.

Heres what it looks like:

Going to think about the other side...

Might rip the left one out and do the same as I have with the right one... just wrap it.

Any thoughts?

Good effort. The right thumb grip on mine went so I just did ripped the left one off to match.

Lol I also did the same with mine!

to be honest though mate you've done a good job of that. Maybe the edge needs tidying a little? Will look bob on with the other to match, and maybe the bottom insert doing in carbon to? You'd sell a fair few of them on here if you started knocking em up

Some nice responses here lol It would be difficult for me to make and sell as I would need to keep my steering wheel gripless unless I buy a dodgy steering wheel and use that as a template?

To be honest I could of spent a lot more time on it. The wrapping is so hard when going round bends and grooves etc. Its not the best job but soooo much better than gripless.

I will be doing both sides and probably the bottom to match.

The only issue I have is with the wrapping... If I can get a piece round each grip easily I WOULD make some for everyone!

You could make a mould off your thumbgrips and then make copies off that - silicone mould, then a resin cast and just sell the plain resin casts to people who can then wrap them themselves. I'd be in for that :)
