Tidying up my 172

So I finally got some time to give my new 172 a wash the other day (in the rain :S)

It's a 53 (Nov '03) 172 in Monaco Blue. 47k on it, picked it up privately for £2550.

I got it a couple of weeks ago nut have away with work offshore most of that time so just getting round to looking the little things that need doing.

So I thought I'd compile this picture list of all the little faults that need doing, nothing major but will keep me busy over the next few months

So starting with the paintwork we have a peppering of stonechips and scrapes across the bonnet:

A wee ding in the passenger door caused by a lawnmower-propelled stone apparently:

Car-park scrape on the nearside bumper/quarter panel:

Ans some random chips here and there...

Some paint rubbed off one of the alloys:

and missing some headlight washer balls!

Intrerior is in good condition, thumbgrips look fine.

But some nicks in the alcantara on drivers seat:

And the fan next to interior light is buzzing like crazy

For my first mods, removes some ugly stickers

And added a nice one :D

So i've got myself a DAS6 Pro DA polisher to help with noking out all the random scraped and scratches and get her back to looking her best

I've already put this to good use cleaning up my Corsa:

Got some new alloys to go on the Corsa too, as requested by my good lady. She's taken custody of the Corsa so some used 17" pentas arrived the other day, they look freshly refurbed but i'll probably throw an extra couple of coats of lacquer on them before i fit them.

So in short I'm delighted with the 172, and i'll try and keep you updated with my progress fixing these niggles and getting her up to scratch.

Cheers! :race:

Nice bit of tlc there yeah reckon a skoda splitter should be top your list on what to do next

Thanks guys, Skoda splitter is already on it's way lol.

Need to try and find some summer rims now so I can refurb the 172 ones for winter tires.

Any suggestions what wheels look good on a Monaco?

Sorted out the bottom of the drivers seat tonight, 7 or 8 bits of torn fabric from some studs in the previous owner's jeans I expect.
Anyway I wasn't sure what glue to use but my Dad gave me some vinyl adhesive he had lying around as it's 'flexible' and should hopefully stand up to the seat being in constant use. Tested it on one of the tears first and it looked good, no evidence of the glue and seemed to be holding well, so finished the job tonight. I guess time will tell if it's going to hold permanently.
Also fitted the alloy footrest from the group buy that arrived today, looks great.

dont get a skoda splitter, there just a snide, treat your self, splash out and get a carbon fiber splitter,
they look really good,

The fan by the interior light is a climate sensor, I have exactly the same problem with my 172, i disconnected it the other day but then the heaters dont blow warm air.

Anyone else come across this, whats the solution to stop them from whining???

I think its the electric motor which makes the noise rather than the fan spinning itself, going to have a play around with mine after work tomorrow see if i can get it sorted, very frustrating when you havent got any music on :(
