listen to you all.
Tiff is more than likely a massive leap in driving skill compared to anyone on here. I should know, he raced for my father at TOMs in macau.......he had some horrible machinery but did well.
Id be more worried about the dribble that clarkson and his moron mates trail all over the place about cars....now there is a useless bunch....
my mum was born in macau, lets hope this post kills this thread........
Im not going to sit and read through 4 pages of complaints that the 182 was beaten by 2 tenths of a second, but i think Oms has summed it up.Quote: Originally posted by omar on 10 May 2005
CTR was a FRACTION quicker than the 182:
You need the ability to squeeze every last bit out of it, therefore your typical hot hatch owner (me included) wont find a huge difference.
Reality:
Different cars to suit different tastes, with similar performance.

hehe was wondering how many peeps would be upset. Just remember how much better your clios look!
Also have any of you actually ever been beaten by a CTR, I have never come across one on the twisties, but I have always beaten them in a straight line on the motorway.
Also dont forget you can get good and bad engines with the clios, matbe he got a bad one! lol
Behave mate! You obviously havent come across one that has been driven properly. Yes a 172/82 will probably keep with a CTR through the twisties. But you wont be beating one in a straight drag on a motorway, unless its being driven by a muppet. Which alot of them are unfortunatly..

"Put one against a Radical SR3 and see what happens". Talk sense mate!
And to come out with that crap about the CTR having more power than manufacturers claim, is something else that is total sh*te. What hard eveidence have you got to support this? Sweet FA id imagine. What excuse you going to come up with next.... Honda secretly engineered 4WD running gear on the car that was featured last night. Or was it running 100 shot of Nos?
5th gear gave away a brand new 20k Golf GTI strange that as they used to give away REALLY sh*tty prizes ??? now a CTR ???
1. Golft GTI they voted best hothatch gave away one ? VW gave them that
go figure
2. CTR is again later voted king of the hothatches two months later ? Honda gave them that ?
go figure
... so it seems that whatever car they give they rate the highest. the whole review proccess is fixed and stinks.
why didnt they have the king vs the old king i.e CTR vs GTI...
because they would have had to give vw and honda their cars back !!!
ohh on a recent RR day with a CTR vs Leon Cupra Shootout CTRs were pushing over 220bhp with just and exhaust and filter thats my evidence.
the comparison with the Radical was meant in the context of perspective. so for example a 3 car lengh lead at 60mph does show that lower down 0-60 a car is visibly faster but at 140mph 3 car lenghs is feck by that point as the time it takes to get there a much faster car wouldnt be in sight ?? thought that was obvious.
so this straigh line crap means nothing. fuel, passenger weight, specific engine power from factory, gear change, fuel type, tyre condition will all add a different spin on end result.
neither cars are faster ultimatley. the ctr is faster in a straight line but the clio is faster on the bends
