Tightening Handbrake

Right everytime i put my handbrake on for some reason it makes a terrible creak as i let go of it or take my foot off the brake. I dont know why it does this but its really annoying, sounds like susspension or summat but anyway my handbrake pulls allllll the way up an i know it shouldnt

Can any1 tell me how to tighten the handbrake on a mk1?? and is it an easy job??

Think they are self adjusting on the mk2 not sure about the mk1 though.

You can try tightening them up.... but they stretch over the years

to tighern them you need to remove the middle exhaust heat sheild, might even have to remove the middle secion of your exhaust lol... Once all that s***s out the way its a simple case of cranking up the 13mm nuts

I would just fit new cables... only like £20ish a pair from GSF
