timing belt labour

Car  Renault clio 172
How long would you say it would take a mechanic with the proper tools to time up my 172 clio new timing belt and all that!

cheers

hey up mate... ive got a 182 so might differ in time but ive been told 7 hours for the kit to be done by renault pal. im guessing theres not much diff in the timing belt on 182 and 172 so i hope this helps.

different emgine, but i bought a cambelt kit and the garage charged me £60 for fitting, it took 2.5 hour iirc.

Had mine done last week, Full cam belt kit and all other belts with a full service.

3 Hrs. Quality mechanic who spends s**t loads of time on Clio's though.

Yeah a specialist who does them every week should be around 3 - 5 hours at a guess.

It was a guesstimate Fredrico :o

I would be worried really if it took 3 hours to do the work.

Well if mistakes happen then thats the bloke that will be putting his mistakes right for free then :p.

I believe so it isnt a race, However after working on all my cars doing numerous different jobs to them, iv never had a problem and touch wood the clio is better than ever atm for a reasonable price.

Autodata says 6.7hours iirc.

My dad (mechanic) done mine the other day his first ever renault sport and done it in 4 hours. Cambelt + tensioner, auxbelt + tensioner.

I had already taken the wheel, bumper, archliner and headlight out though.

I had mine done recently on my 182. Took most of the day. But the thing is with the 172 or 182 is the space availiable in the engine bay. Very tight.

I've done a couple VERY fast (not telling ;) ) but i normally go at it at a bit of a plod, take my time and make sure i'm happy with it. average about 4-4.5 hours.
Space isn't a problem, I just remove everything, there's no point struggling and not being able to see.
