Timing Belt

  Broken Diesel Megane :(
Just put car into garage yesterday to get the fan belt replaced as it was driving me nuts with the amount of squeking, so thought i would get the timing belt done as well as it is 5 years old now and rolling on 56k.

£260 for the timing belt. seem fair price?
dunno how much for the fan belt, surely no more than £30.

oh and also he is gonna re-connect my CAT for MOT, only charging an hour and a half labour on that.

just wanting to know that while its in, is there anything else should be done around this time?

cheers

That's not bad - got mine done for about the same price (although it was with Renault France)

  Leon Cupra 300
Nope, fans are electric.

The aux belt powers aircon where applicable, power steering etc etc

Just thought of something. When you have to put the cat back on for the MOT, does it have to go in its original position.

Would it not be possible to use heat tape or something to join it to the end of the exhaust. The MOT bloke could then stick the tester rod in the cat and should get the same reading.

£260 will be for the AUX belt powers the PAS and coolent and alternator the fanc electric fully.

The cmabelt is a lot more £160 or so for the kit then 5.1 hours to fit the aux belt is chnaged at the same time as you've got to remove it to get the to cambelt.
