Timing setup issue

It wiggles!
I wont pretend that I know how I done it but I had to use a 0.17 feeler in the cam groove. Spun it over half a dozen times and it all lines up perfectly!

Now time for the rebuild.

Thanks for all the responses. A little info from each poster has definitely helped.
Can you tell us the steps you managed to get it right?

I used the suggestion that I may have missed turning the engine over with the cam pulleys loose. Tried that along with removing all spark plugs. This obviously removed engine compression which I think released a bit of tension on the inlet cam. Just guessing though.

I followed the guides previously posted on here.

It was funny, when tightening the pulleys, I actually sighed with relief in advance of rechecking. I knew it was done right haha. Finally.
