I'm assuming you mean ignition timing. You give an engine what it wants, not what you think it needs. You'll quite often find if you keep increasing the timing the power will drop off, even before detonation occurs, so "more" isn't necessarily better
 
Worth mentioning what fuel you are running given that different octane fuel will have a massive impact on MBT of course.
 
You are aware the timing requirements will be greatly different on those 2 fuels so you will need a different map for each one?
