Tips for steering wheel

First of all, what is the standard steering wheel made from?

Any tips on cleaning and restoring one?

Once it starts to fall apart there aint much you can do. I found when my old PH2 wheel started to go due to heat that touching it with any form of cleaning product made it worse...IE it stripped it and made it worse.

Im led to believe that once the melting appears then its just gets worse from there.

If you want to restore one then i would recommend a refurb instead.
