to flush or not to flush

i have a tiny noise coming from my dephaser pulley and thinkin of givin it a oil/engine flush.

is this somethin everyone does or will it make the oil to thin whiles running it though on tick over

sure ive heard someone say it works but wanted to make sure before i go off and do it!!
