Tomtom 300 Stuck on "red hands" screen

Anyone got any ideas on what I can do. It won't switch on or off. Resets but then comes up with the same screen

sd card ok?
try updating the firmware via tomtom home

Not sure. I can't do owt with it...pc won't even pick it up thru usb. It turns on ok with the bongo drum noise, then it fills a bar up (reading the card?) then it goes back to the red hands bit and thats it. I'm borrowing a card reader and I had saved all the files off the card at work. I`ll wipe the card then put the original stuff on and see what happens

I had this, SD card was screwed.

Took it back to the retailer I bought it from and they swapped it for a brand new item quibble free, even after several months of ownership.

Sorted thanks guys. I used a card reader and wiped the card then just dragged the old files that I had backed up on my pc back on the card and it worked.

my mates did this, i just reset the tomtom using the little button
