Too much exhaust seal?

  None :(
Just fitted my RS197 cat back system, not sure if im 100% happy atm, people are totally right when they say it isn’t much louder than stock, but i do like the burrrr when u switch the engine on :D

After first test run and got back, looked under the car, and best way to describe it, is i could see “heat waves” coming from where the right "y" pipe back box joins with the center section, so i re-pasted some more exhaust sealant. But i may not have done a very good job, so is this why it might not sound as loud as i thought? I’m just tempted to get car MOT’d and de-cat it.....

So you think too much sealant? Should i get a garage to re-fit you think?

Oh and i personally found it really hard to get the exhaust straight at the back and level, did the best i could with some hard duty cable ties:

Your thoughts greatly appreciated cheers.

Isnt this the scorpion RS192?

Yeah that's way too much exhaust sealant mate, but the only way youre going to get it off is let it harden then wire brush it off. Really you just want a light coat of the mating surfaces of the join, so really there should be pretty much none visible once it is fitted and the clamp is done up.

Getting the exhaust straight and level is a nightmare made even worse by worn mounts. Don't bother getting a garage to refit, just play about with it and get it as best as you can. I have the same exhaust and it will never set perfect no matter how much I've played with it.

sorry yes 192 my bad.

I put the past on before joining it. As i read on here, but when i saw the "waves" i thought to put it on the top to fix the issue?

thanks for the quick replies people!

its normal for an exhaust to give it a lot of heat. The car has heatshields to protect it though, so no need to worry. You've done the hardest part yourself so dont go taking it to a garage who will take the mick!

Thanks jack_davey, your probably right, they will take the mick. I was gonna get a garage to do the de-cat though, i can't belive how many hours it took me to do that exhaust (cpu geek here).

J4mes, im in the Abbeymead area, always lived in Glos, and had car 2.5 years, it's got a front splitter on it, now im really back into my car im trying to go to some meets etc, do you know where a lot of people in Glos go with their cars etc? Just incase as it looks different from the front, now you might have seen it?
